Bone-dry, racy and thrilling. Riesling in the 21st Century with Anne Krebiehl MW – Monday 13th March
£80.00There is so much to say about Riesling, and all this world ever does is talk about residual sugar. So, we have decided to talk only about bone-dry Riesling and dispense with the sweetness discussion altogether, since there are far more interesting things to talk about, such as its incredible ability to reflect site, its international incarnations across climatic zones, its expressions on different soils and its evolution – is it TDN or not? (We are talking about a compound that creates that tell-tale petrol/kerosene character). Join us as we geek out while sipping some of the world’s finest iterations of Riesling, in what will be a sure-fire Masterclass treat for Members. The wines we will be tasting: 2022 Grosset, Polish Hill Riesling, Clare Valley 2016 Domaine Weinbach – Grand Cru, Schlossberg Cuvée Sainte Catherine 2021 Schafer-Frohlich, Felseneck Riesling Grosses Gewachs, Nahe 2020 Robert Weil Kiedricher Grafenberg Riesling Trocken GG 2018 Domäne Wachau – Ried Achleiten 2020 Weingut Knoll - Ried Schütt Dürnsteiner Riesling Smaragd 2016 Pewsey Vale The Contours Riesling 2018 Chateau Ste. French Alps – Beyond the Ski Slopes Masterclass with Wink Lorch – Thursday 23rd February
£70.00We are thrilled to welcome Wink Lorch back to the Club for what promises to be another exploration of the unknown. Author of Wines of the French Alps: Savoie, Bugey and Beyond, Wink is a wine writer, educator and skier who has been a fan of wines born close to the slopes for decades. She will take Members on a deep dive into these wines which emerge from the rocks beneath the ski runs, often made from ancient, indigenous varieties. A new generation of winegrowers are ensuring that these grapes and the wines made from them are at last being properly valued. Gone are the thin, acidic wines once endured in the après-ski bars of yesteryear. In their stead, we now have myriad styles of wine which always show a touch of mountain freshness, but with added depth, complexity and originality. Members will discover three whites and three reds from different grapes and areas, bookended by a brace of Alpine sparklers, all underlining the quality to be found today in wines from the French Alps. An essential ticket for the curious connoisseur, Wink will also have her books available to purchase on the evening. The wines we will be tasting: NV Franck Peillot, Bugey Montagnieu Brut 2020 Denis & Didier Berthollier, La Coulée de Proserpine, Chignin Bergeron, Savoie 2020 Domaine Lupin, Frangy, Roussette de Savoie, Savoie 2021 Domaine Giachino, Monfarino, Savoie 2019 Domaine Prieuré Saint-Christophe, Mondeuse, Savoie 2019 Domaine Saint-Germain, Persan, Savoie 2021 Domaine Partagé, Bibi, Savoie NV Domaine Balivet, Bugey Cerdon Thursday 23rd February St. James’s Room 18:30 - Welcome Drink 19:00 - Masterclass starts 20:30 - Masterclass endsRead morePlease note, tickets are refundable for cancellations up to 48 hours before the event. The art of globemaking – Wednesday 9th April
£65.00Read moreMembers have expressed an interest in seeing more events with a focus on pursuits other than wine, but that also showcase craftsmanship and culture. We are delighted, then, to announce another in the series, via a London craftsman who makes an art of terroir.
Join us on Wednesday 9th April for a fascinating masterclass with Peter Bellerby, founder of Bellerby & Co. Globemakers, the world’s only truly bespoke maker of globes. Peter’s journey began when he set out to find the perfect globe for his father’s 80th birthday. Unable to find anything suitable, he decided to create one himself - an endeavour that led him to rediscover and master this intricate, time-honoured craft. Today, his London-based team of artisans produces exquisite terrestrial, celestial and planetary globes for collectors around the world, while Peter recently published his first book, The Globemakers, with Bloomsbury. Join us for an evening of insight into the art of globemaking, followed by a lively Q&A in a rare opportunity to hear from a master of his craft. And, of course, a selection of fine wines from all across the, well… globe. Champagne Castelnau Masterclass With Carine Bailleul – Thursday 10th November
£95.00Champagne Castelnau is located in the heart of Reims and represents the very essence of Champagne. It has 900ha of vineyards across 155 crus, creating a unique grape growers’ collective and the production of outstanding wine. Chef de Caves, Carine Bailleul, crafts Castelnau’s stylish cuvées which are characterised by a high percentage of Chardonnay as well as extensive lees ageing: the flagship Brut Réserve NV spends at least five years on the lees and vintages are typically aged for at least 12 years before release. During this effervescent tasting, Carine will treat us to an outstanding clutch of both current and library releases, including Collection Œnothèque. Only made in the finest of vintages and exclusively in magnum, Collection Œnothèque preserves the continuity of the House style from one generation to the next and shows what great winemakers can do with excellent fruit. The evening culminates with Castelnau’s prestige cuvée Hors Catégorie. Meaning ‘beyond categorisation’, Hors Catégorie pays homage to the toughest mountain stages of the Tour de France, of which Castelnau is a long-standing partner. Marked by barrel ageing and bottling at low pressure to give a creamy mousse, the scarcity of this cuvée is fast making it a collector’s item, for cycling and Champagne enthusiasts alike. We hope to see you there, or, as they say on the Tour, Allez! Allez! Allez! The wines we will be tasting: NV Champagne Castelnau Brut Réserve 2007 Champagne Castelnau Blanc de Blancs 2005 Champagne Castelnau Blanc de Blancs 2006 Champagne Castelnau Vintage 2002 Champagne Castelnau Œnothèque en magnum NV Champagne Castelnau Hors Categorie Thursday 10th November St. James’s Room 18:30 – NV Champagne Castelnau Brut Rosé on arrival 19:00 – Masterclass begins 20:30 – Masterclass endsRead morePlease note, tickets are refundable for cancellations up to 48 hours before the event. Valentine’s Day blind tasting – Saturday 14th February
£95.00They say love is blind - which makes a blind tasting a rather fitting way to mark a wine-themed Valentine’s Day. With an added note of romance and a touch of mischief, this playful evening invites Members to trust their senses, set aside preconceptions and enjoy getting to know one another, whether arriving solo or accompanied. This Valentine’s Day, we invite Members to experience a blind tasting with a twist - 67 branded blindfolds, carefully chosen wines and a little enforced trust. Designed as a sociable exploration of taste, perception and instinct, the evening balances tasting with just enough intrigue to keep things interesting. The night unfolds as a guided blind tasting led by our expert sommelier. A glass is poured blind on arrival, followed by six tasting rounds in which you’ll be paired first with the Member to your right, then with the one to your left. In each round, one of you will taste blindfolded while the other observes, before swapping roles. The blindfolded guest describes what they taste, makes a guess and only then does the sommelier reveal the wine. And yes, there will be a prize for the top taster – plus an after-party! Read on for the full details… Saturday 14th February St James’s Room 18:30 - Welcome reception 19:00 - Blind tasting begins 20:30 - Blind tasting ends 21:00 - DJ Babé Sila starts in the ClubroomRead moreCOMPLIMENTARY AFTER-PARTY IN THE CLUBROOM
The evening doesn’t end there. At 21:00, the blindfolds come off and the night opens up. Following the success of our Halloween party, DJ Babé Sila returns to the Clubroom, shifting the mood from considered tasting to convivial celebration - with the dancefloor open to all.
Come for the wine, stay for the music - and who knows, perhaps the evening will deliver more than just a good food and wine match…

Five-course paired dinner with English pioneer Nyetimber – Tuesday 4th November (Non-Member)
£210.00Read moreAmid the fast-paced evolution of English wine in recent years, one name has stood resolutely at the top of the tree. Since its first vines were planted in 1988, and its first vintage was made in 1992, Nyetimber has set the benchmark for English fizz. The West Sussex-based producer was the pioneer of harnessing the classic Champagne varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, and also led the way in releasing a prestige cuvée, a single-vineyard wine and a demi-sec, all while focusing solely on sparkling wine. The estate’s story stretches back to the first mention of ‘Nitimbreha’ in the Domesday Book of 1086 (the year which now provides the name of the estate’s prestige cuvée). Today its vineyards are spread across 11 sites on south-facing slopes and chalk-rich soils covering 425 hectares in Sussex, Hampshire and Kent. We are delighted to welcome Nyetimber’s head viticulturalist Ben Kanstler and his colleague Charlie Lowe for a very special dinner designed to showcase the ageing potential of the wines. Guests will enjoy a line-up of library vintages dating back to 2003, paired with a bespoke five-course menu based around British produce and dishes. We invite you to join us for this rather special occasion. The menu: Welcome drink: 2010 Classic Cuvee, Nyetimber (served from magnum) Fresh Jersey oysters 2017 Blanc de Blancs, Nyetimber Clarence Court Full English 2009 Tillington Single Vineyard, Nyetimber Stuffed dover sole, sherry & mushroom albufara 2003 Blanc de Blancs, Nyetimber Guinea fowl breast & leg, baby leek, sweetcorn & pea tenderill 2016 1086 Prestige Cuvee, Rosé, NyetimberPlease reach out to [email protected] if you have any dietary requirements/allergies. Walkaround tasting with Napa disruptor Realm Cellars – Wednesday 1st October
£65.00In a region not known for a lack of ambition, Realm Cellars is arguably the most ambitious winery in Napa Valley today. Founded on a negociant model in 2002, it spared no expense in buying grapes from some of Napa’s top sites, among them To Kalon in Oakville, Beckstoffer Dr. Crane in St. Helena, and Farella Vineyard in Coombsville, to make wines whose lavish vinification soon found favour among the influential US critics of the time. It was in 2009, under the auspices of Michel Rolland protegé Benoit Touquette, who had previously made wine at Napa standouts Dalla Valle, Ovid and Screaming Eagle, that the winemaking became more refined. Then, in 2012, Realm set out on its second act, as Touquette joined up with new co-owner Scott Becker, formerly of Cakebread Cellars and Harlan’s Promontory. Today, as well as making wines from its original sources, Realm also farms 75 acres of its own vineyards across some of Napa’s most notable regions, including Stags Leap District, Pritchard Hill and Coombsville. These yield an increasingly acclaimed range of estate wines, single-vineyard cuvées and proprietary blends whose focus on site over style have made them a staple of US collectors’ cellars. Now, Realm has its sights set on the UK market. We are delighted to welcome owner Scott Becker to host a comprehensive introduction to Realm, via an informal tasting of the complete 2023 range, as well as an older vintage of The Bard, and the 2024 release of its Sauvignon Blanc. A must for devotees of Napa – and of nuanced, site-specific Cabernet in general. An evening with Olivier Krug – Friday 3rd October
£995.00 – £1,010.00Price range: £995.00 through £1,010.00It was in 1843 that Joseph Krug set out the vision that has defined his family house’s identity ever since. Krug determined to create the finest possible Champagne each and every year, regardless of conditions, released as a ‘Grande Cuvée’ that would go beyond the notion of vintage to create the most generous expression from year to year. That approach has been maintained ever since, with the house recently releasing the 173rd edition of its Grande Cuvée. The wine is the ultimate triumph of blending, crafted from the 250 different plots and vast library of reserve wines that the house now has at its disposal. Each new edition is a blend of at least 120 different components spanning ten different years, fermented in small oak barrels and aged in bottle for seven years before release. Though now part of the empire of luxury group LVMH, the house’s figurehead remains Olivier Krug, the sixth generation of the family. And we’re delighted to welcome Olivier for a rather special evening at the Club, in which he will guide us through not just the four most recent editions of the Grande Cuvée, but the house’s rosé, three vintage bottlings (including the library release of the acclaimed 1995) and the vaunted single-vineyard Blanc de Noirs, Clos D’Ambonnay. Ambonnay has long been an integral component of the Krug make-up, on account of the remarkable quality of its Pinot Noir. The house finally acquired the site in 1994, immediately deciding to release a single-vineyard wine from it (the 2006, which we will enjoy, is only the sixth vintage to be made). It is now the site of the recently unveiled Krug winery, inaugurated last year. Olivier is an entertaining and genial host – expect him to focus as much on his preferred music choices for each wine as the specifics of the blends (for a further flavour, click here to read the interview we did with Olivier in the Back Label newsletter earlier in the year). The wines we will be tasting: Krug, Grande Cuvée, 173ème Edition, Brut (welcome glass) 2006 Krug, Clos d’Ambonnay, Brut 2011 Krug, Vintage, Brut 2004 Krug, Vintage, Brut 2002 Krug, Vintage, Brut Krug Rosé, 28ème Edition, Brut Krug, Grande Cuvée, 172ème Edition, Brut Krug, Grande Cuvée, 171ème Edition, Brut Krug, Grande Cuvée, 170ème Edition, Brut 1995, Krug Collection, Brut N.B. A bespoke canapé of carrot tartlette, smoked carrot, flanders rose & dill, created by executive chef Dan Page to mark Krug (this year's ingredient), will be served on arrival. Former somm Emmanuel Cadieu returns with his favourite wines – Monday 24th November
£145.00 – £160.00Price range: £145.00 through £160.00As part of our ten-year celebrations, we are thrilled to welcome back a clutch of familiar faces from the last decade – and first up is former deputy head sommelier Emmanuel Cadieu. Emmanuel joined us in 2018, following stints working in Sydney and at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay here in London. He has since made a name for himself in Paris, having first taken the role of head sommelier at the three-Michelin-starred Plenitude within the Hotel Cheval Blanc, and now stepping up to become wine director across the whole property. For one night only, Emmanuel will be returning to the club to present a half-dozen of his favourite wines in what promises to be a fun, informal tasting. The wines span a range of regions and varieties, including some more offbeat cuvées: a Loire Chenin Blanc from a small, mother-and-daughter operation; a Jura Chardonnay; and a wild, unfiltered, Corsican Vermentino. Reds come from Sonoma Coast, the Rhône Valley and Savoie, via the ultra-premium Mondeuse Tradition bottling from Domaine Prieuré Saint Christophe. ‘It’s a selection that brings together some of my personal favourites,’ says Emmanuel. ‘Whether from producers highly respected for their work in the vineyards, their commitment to organic viticulture or biodynamic farming, or even their involvement in the natural wine movement. Each of these wines has given me moments of genuine emotion, and they all carry comforting memories – whether from my vineyard visits with those passionate growers or from shared moments of tasting their wines.’ ‘I invite you to enjoy, as I have, the singular character of these wines – each of them a true reflection of the specific terroirs from which they are born.’ The wines we will be tasting: 2022 Savennières Roche aux Moine, Tessa Laroche 2018 Côtes du Jura, Chardonnay La Bardette, Domaine Labet 2022 Nicolas Mariotti Bindi, Mursaglia Vieilliessement Prolonge, Corsica 2014 Vin de Pays d’Allobroges, Mondeuse Tradition, Domaine Prieuré Saint Christophe 2014 Pinot Noir, Pivot Vineyard, Littorai, Sonoma Coast 2015 Saint-Joseph, Domaine Pierre Gonon Monday 24th November St James’s Room 18:30 - Welcome reception 19:00 - Masterclass begins 20:30 - Masterclass endsSelect options This product has multiple variants. 100 years of wine legend May-Eliane de Lencquesaing, with Glenelly cellarmaster Dirk van Zyl – Thursday 25th September
£95.00 – £110.00Price range: £95.00 through £110.00At 100 years old, May de Lencquesaing is more than a wine legend – she is a force of nature. As she celebrates a century of life, legacy and reinvention, we are proud to host an evening exploring how this fearless pioneer continues to inspire, even as she enters her second century. De Lenquesaing took the reins of Bordeaux’s Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande in the 1970s, and transformed it into an estate befitting – and indeed often outperforming – its second-growth status. A woman in a male-dominated world, she commanded respect through wines of elegance and precision that echoed her strength of character. In 2006, as she entered her 80s, she sold the property to Louis Roederer and, at an age when most would be happy to reminisce over past vintages, began plotting her next chapter. Setting off to establish a new winery in South Africa might have been considered a bold, even foolhardy move. For de Lenquesaing, it was simply the next step. Since her purchase of Glenelly Estate, a historic fruit farm nestled on the slopes of the Simonsberg mountain, it has been transformed into a beacon of French winemaking tradition with a South African soul. Wines of balance, complexity and a profound sense of place are among the Cape’s finest – and have led to multiple accolades, including de Lenquesaing being garlanded with the Légion d’Honneur, France’s highest distinction. While Madame de Lenquesaing is unable to travel to London, we are thrilled to welcome her granddaughter, Cecilia Gentry, and Glenelly cellarmaster Dirk van Zyl to the Club for a very special evening. The pair will reflect on the life of a legend, while Dirk will guide us through the Glenelly wines, including the new release of the flagship Bordeaux blend Lady May, plus back vintages, and a bonus wine from one of her final vintages at Pichon Lalande. Castello del Terriccio – Lupicaia vertical – Friday 14th October
£85.00The Castello del Terriccio estate is one of the most beautifully situated along the entire coastal region, some miles north of Bolgheri. Their 60 hectares of vines enjoy wonderful exposure overlooking the sea, benefitting from its warmth and brightness. The vineyards are surrounded by 'maquis' and eucalyptus trees, which as well as protecting them, also contribute to the aromas and scents that so characterise the Terriccio wines. Planted predominately with Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Syrah, the wines are made by consultant oenologist Carlo Ferrini, who has to date brought thirteen 'Tre Bicchiere' awards to the estate. These are wines that can be approached almost immediately, and yet age so well over a decade and more. Tragically at the end of 2019 the extraordinarily charming owner Cav. Gian Annibale Rossi di Medelana Serafini Ferri, or 'Pucci' as he was fondly known, passed away. The estate continues in the safe hands of his nephew Vittorio - and with the same team around him working in the cellars and the vineyards, we at the Club are confident that the estate will go from strength to strength. The wines will be presented by the owner of the estate, Vittorio Piozzo di Rosignano Rossi di Medelana, Philip Goodband MW and Export Manager Bettina Berthau, in a tasting surely not to miss. We hope to see you there… The wines we will be tasting: 2004 Castello del Terriccio Lupicaia 2006 Castello del Terriccio Lupicaia 2009 Castello del Terriccio Lupicaia 2010 Castello del Terriccio Lupicaia 2011 Castello del Terriccio Lupicaia 2012 Castello del Terriccio Lupicaia 2014 Castello del Terriccio Lupicaia 2016 Castello del Terriccio Lupicaia Friday 14th October St. James’s Room 18:30 – Welcome glass on arrival 19:00 – Masterclass begins 20:30 – Masterclass endsRead morePlease note, tickets are refundable for cancellations up to 48 hours before the event.
