Castello del Terriccio – Lupicaia vertical – Friday 14th October

Castello del Terricio is one of the largest estates in Tuscany, spanning 1500 hectares along the northern border of the Maremma, sloping down towards the Tyrrenian Sea.

In more recent times however,  Gian Annibale Rossi di Medelana and Oenologist Carlo Ferrini have masterfully guided the winery to greatness.

Lupicaia, Castello del Terriccio and Tassinaia now rank amongst the greatest red wines in the world, with the estate belonging to an exclusive club of Italian wine producers, contributing to the success of Maremman, Tuscan and Italian wines worldwide.

Today it is the Cavaliere’s only nephew, Vittorio Piozzo di Rosignano Rossi di Medelana, who left his career in finance to dedicate himself personally to this outstanding property.

First produced in 1993, Lupicaia is a red wine with great character and complex aromas, taking wine its name from a local hill where local lore says wolves have been seen.

The grapes used for Lupicaia are 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot, aged separately for 22/24 months in Allier oak barriques and tonneaux, before being blended and stored for another two years before sale.

The wines will be presented by the owner of the estate, Vittorio Piozzo di Rosignano Rossi di Medelana, Philip Goodband MW and Export Manager Bettina Berthau, in a tasting surely not to miss.

We hope to see you there…
