St-Emilion Grand Cru Classé going back to 1966 – Monday 17th November
£125.00 – £140.00Price range: £125.00 through £140.00Select options This product has multiple variants. The options may be chosen on the product pageNestled in the heart of Saint-Émilion, Couvent des Jacobins stands as one of the Bordeaux Right Bank’s most historic estates.
The estate was established on one of the highest points in Saint-Émilion in 1389, following a land bequest to the Dominican friars known as the Jacobin Brothers. For nearly four centuries, the friars cultivated vines just outside the city moats, producing wines that were exported to the royal courts of England and France. Over time, Couvent des Jacobins became one of the most representative names of the region, earning its Grand Cru Classé status in the inaugural 1955 Saint-Émilion classification. Under the stewardship of the Jean and Joinaud families since 1902, today, it marries its centuries-old heritage with a forward-looking commitment to sustainability, certified organic farming and precise, terroir-driven winemaking. But beneath the estate lies the most valuable part of its story. The 10-metre-deep underground cellars, harnessed as limestone quarries in the 17th and 18th centuries have, since the early 20th century, been used to store wine at perfect humidity and temperature. They are home to a unique archive: a library of old vintages preserved by the Jean family for future generations as part of the estate’s enduring legacy. We are delighted to welcome Couvent des Jacobins’ winemaker and general manager Dennis Pomarede to the Club to guide Members through a rare, six-decade vertical tasting to reflect the evolution of both the estate and Saint-Émilion as a whole. From the 1966 vintage to the 2020, via 1982 and 1995, each bottle reveals a different chapter in the story of this historic domaine. Château Giscours Vertical Tasting Hosted by Alexander Van Beek | Monday 22nd November
£130.00Château Giscours has a long and illustrious history, it was classified as a Third Grand Cru Classé in 1855 classification and has attracted a loyal following of connoisseurs over the centuries. Pierre de Lhomme, a rich draper founded the vineyard in 1552 in the prized Margaux commune and today it is owned by Dennis, Derk & Valerie Albada Jelgersma, the children of the late Eric Albada Jelgersma, the charismatic Dutch entrepreneur who was a renowned art collector and wine lover. Situated in the heart of the Margaux appellation, this third growth estate has undergone massive change under the direction of General Manager, Alexander Van Beek, a fellow dutchman, who arrived at the property in 1995 at the young age of 24. Since the purchase considerable investment has been made. Following an extensive terroir study there has been considerable replanting with a change from 60% Merlot in 1995 to 65% Cabernet Sauvignon today. Alexander will conduct a tasting spanning the 20 years of the property. A date not to be missed by any Bordeaux lover. Long Live Brunello 2015 masterclass with Federico Moccia & Nelson Pari – Tuesday 20th May
£150.00 – £165.00Price range: £150.00 through £165.00Throughout the year, we will be taking regular looks back at our birth year of 2015, as we celebrate 10 years of 67 Pall Mall here in London in a series of events. For Brunello di Montalcino, the 2015 vintage was nothing short of exceptional. Unlike the cool and wet 2014 season, 2015 benefited from a warm, dry summer, delivering perfectly ripened grapes with depth, balance and structure. This has resulted in wines with generous fruit, refined tannins and remarkable ageing potential – hailed as one of the standout vintages of the decade. We are delighted, then, to revive the popular ‘Long Live Brunello’ event series, hosted by Head Sommelier Federico Moccia and his friend and former colleague Nelson Pari. They will be joined by Andrea Polidoro, head winemaker at Cupano and a champion of ageworthy Brunello, for an evening celebrating the 2015 vintage. The evening will take the form of an interactive masterclass, offering Members the chance to taste and compare a curated selection of 2015 Brunellos. Our three hosts have invited collated a host of top producers to showcase their expressions of this exceptional year, including Riserva and single-vineyard bottlings, making for a fantastic opportunity to explore the nuances of this standout vintage with the people who know it best. Members can look forward to tasting wines from the following producers: Casanova di Neri Castello di Argiano Col d'Orcia Cupano Il Marroneto Le Chiuse Le Potazzine Le Ragnaie Le Ripi Poggio di Sotto Salicutti Sesti Tricerchi Tuesday 20th May St. James’s Room 18:30 – Welcome reception 19:00 – Masterclass begins 20:30 – Masterclass ends Please note that we now offer a tasting board of charcuterie, cheese, olives and smoked crispy chickpeas to accompany your tasting. Canadian Walkaround Tasting in partnership with the Academie du Vin and the High Commission of Canada – Wednesday 11th May
£45.00The Academie du Vin in partnership with the High Commission of Canada invites you to join us in the Club on Wednesday 11th May, as we explore one of the most beautiful wine regions in the world. In 1983, Bartholomew Broadbent, then based in Toronto representing the Symington Family Ports in Canada, opened a branch of L’Academie du Vin, the Paris wine school that Steven Spurrier had founded a decade earlier based on the teachings of his acknowledged mentor, Michael Broadbent. In 1986, with Bartholomew moving to San Francisco, the management of L’Academie was taken over by wine lover, businessman and 67 Pall Mall Member, Marc Nadeau. Marc has since been actively involved in nurturing Canada’s position on the global wine stage, and has introduced many foreign winemakers, wine lovers and personalities to the Niagara, Price Edward county, Nova Scotia and Okanagan Valley regions. To give Members a little background on Canada as a wine-making region, during the first half of the twentieth century, the temperance movement and the demand for fortified and sweet wines hindered the development of a quality table wine industry. It was during the 60's that this demand shifted from sweet and fortified wines to drier and low alcohol wines. There was significant growth and development within the Canadian wine industry during this time, with access to better grape varieties, disease resistant clones and in-depth viticulture research. We very much look forward to welcoming you to what will be a fascinating evening of a whole host of fantastic Canadian expressions. Burns Night Dinner 2022
£99.00We are delighted to welcome back that most traditional of feasts to the St. James's Room this January, in the form of a very special Burns Night dinner. We hope Members will be as excited as we are to host once more one of our favourite events of the year, complete with all the Burns Night trimmings... The very first Burns supper was held in July 1801, when nine of Robert Burns' friends got together to mark the fifth anniversary of his death. The night consisted of a hearty meal (haggis included), performances of his work and a speech in his honour. The event was such a success that they decided to do another on his birthday, 25th January, thus starting the tradition that is now an institution of Scottish life. Join us in celebrating a man who still today inspires writers, musicians and artists around the world. In 2010, Astronaut Nick Patrick carried Burns' poetry on his two-week mission to the International Space Station, to accompany him on his 5.7 million mile journey. When Bob Dylan was asked for his greatest creative inspiration, he named Burns’ 1794 song, “A Red, Red Rose” as the lyrics that have had the biggest effect on his life, and it is even said that 'Thriller' was inspired by the poem, “Tam O'Shanter”. We will begin with a glass of champagne on arrival, where our bagpiper and host Jock Wishart will commence proceedings with trademark Scottish flair. Drams of whiskey, the pomp of the piper and an exquisitely paired traditional Burns Night menu will feature in our celebration of this brilliant writer. We hope to see you there... Burns Night Menu: NV Charles Heidsieck, Brut Réserve Cock-a-leekie soup 2018, Chardonnay, Trefethen Family Vineyards Haggis Neeps & Tatties 2016, Oldenburg Vineyards, Rhodium Clootie Pudding, Whiskey Ice-Cream 2017, Niepoort Late Bottled Vintage Pairing whiskies soon to be announced. Tuesday 25th January St James’s Room £99.00 per ticket 18:30 - Champagne on arrival 22.30 - Event finishes Please note that this event has now sold out, however Members can sign up for our waiting list here.Read more -

Discover the unsung cru of Barolo with the Barolo Boys – Wednesday 15th October
£95.00 – £110.00Price range: £95.00 through £110.00Our intrepid Barolo Boys – Head Sommelier Federico Moccia and his good friend and former colleague Nelson Pari – are of the firm belief that their favourite region should focus more on what they feel are its under-appreciated cru wines. And they have uncovered just the place… Once considered a lesser cru due to its understated elegance and fragrance, Castelletto, in the commune of Monforte d’Alba, is experiencing a remarkable resurgence. It is set next to the better-known cru of Ceretta, in Serralunga d’Alba, and unlike the typically fuller, more powerful wines of Monforte d’Alba, Castelletto distinguishes itself with finesse and aromatic complexity – qualities that are increasingly valued today. The unique character of the cru led Fabio Alessandria of the legendary Burlotto estate to acquire vineyards here, rather than elsewhere in the appellation, in 2018. We are delighted, then, to host a dedicated tasting of the cru of Castelletto, where Fede and Nelson will be joined by Fabio – the great-great-grandson of G.B. Burlotto himself, who was the first winemaker to sell Barolo in bottle back in the 19th century. The tasting will focus on the 2021 vintage – ‘one for both the purists and the hedonists’, according to Peter Mitchell MW, wine director of Italian specialist Jeroboams, who says he was ‘taken aback by how thrilling the wines are – in many cases even more complete than the epic 2016s’. Join the Barolo Boys for a deep dive into the joys of this unsung gem and the producers who bring this distinctive cru to life. The wines we will be tasting: 2021 Burlotto, Castelletto, Barolo DOCG 2021 Seghesio, Castelletto, Barolo DOCG 2021 Mauro Veglio, Castelletto, Barolo DOCG 2021 Giovanni Manzone, Castelletto, Barolo DOCG 2021 ForteMasso, Castelletto, Barolo DOCG 2021 Josetta Saffirio, Castelletto Persiera, Barolo DOCG 2021 Castello di Perno, Castelletto, Barolo DOCG 2021 Poderi Gianni Gagliardo, Castelletto, Barolo DOCG Wednesday 15th October St James’s Room 18:30 - Welcome reception 19:00 - Masterclass starts 20:30 - Masterclass endsSelect options This product has multiple variants. 2021 Barolo tasting with Federico Moccia and Nelson Pari – Wednesday 22nd January
£75.00 – £90.00Price range: £75.00 through £90.00Select options This product has multiple variants. The options may be chosen on the product pageAccording to the local Consorzio, there are fewer than 100 producers making a Barolo del Comune, the ‘village’ wine of the famous Piedmont region. Head Sommelier Federico Moccia and Nelson Pari, aka The Barolo Boys, feel the figure highlights the rather overlooked state of this style within the region.
So in January, Fede and Nelson are back for another Barolo del Comune tasting to complement their annual report, this year exploring the 2021 vintage through seven exemplary producers. The Barolo Boys believe that the future of Barolo lies in adopting a Burgundian approach, with an emphasis on village wines. This will require the efforts of producers, importers, sommeliers and consumers alike to understand the importance of the category, and highlighting what the French would call the local ‘cru’. Fede and Nelson are leading the way… The 2021 vintage will be remembered for its mild, dry winter, late budding, and frost challenges, with a warm spring and summer preceding the early-October harvest. Overall, say Fede and Nelson, the vintage offers a classic style, with much to admire for aficionados of traditional Barolo – wines with ‘tension and muscle’, adds Nelson – amid a warmer interpretation of this celebrated wine compared to the cooler 2016 and more balanced 2019. Come and meet the Barolo Boys and discover more about the region – and the latest vintage. The wines we will be tasting: 2021 Barolo del Comune di Verduno, Diego Morra 2021 Barolo del Comune di Barolo, Marchesi di Barolo 2021 Barolo del Comune di La Morra, Gianni Gagliardo 2021 Barolo del Comune di Castiglione Falletto, Monchiero 2021 Barolo del Comune di Monforte d'Alba, Castello di Perno 2021 Barolo del Comune di Monforte d'Alba, Domenico Clerico 2021 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba, Ettore Germano Please note that we now offer a tasting board of charcuterie, cheese, olives and smoked crispy chickpeas to accompany your tasting. Valais – A Swiss paradise for wine explorers with Simon Hardy and Anouck Dann – Friday 10th March
£50.00The wines of Switzerland are gaining increasing traction outside their home country, despite much of it never crossing the border. The Valais is the largest of the country’s six wine regions, accounting for one-third of all Swiss production. Join Club Members Anouck Dann from Les Celliers de Vétroz in the Valais and Simon Hardy DipWSET, Swiss wine ambassador at 67 Pall Mall, to enjoy a selection of white, red and sweet wines from the Valais. The remarkable quality of these wines is characterised by the unique Alpine terroir formed by the receding glaciers. This sunny region is the country’s driest thanks to the protection of the Alps to the south and is also the birthplace of the Rhône river. One of the delights of exploring Valaisan wines is discovering the number of native varieties that grow only in this region. Some of the leading white wines are made from indigenous varieties like the iconic Swiss variety Chasselas (known locally as Fendant), Petite Arvine and Amigne. Local black grapes Cornalin and Humagne Rouge grow alongside more familiar varieties such as Pinot Noir and - as you might expect in the Rhône valley - Syrah. Exploring the wines of the Valais is the perfect way to understand what makes Switzerland stand out in the world of wine. This tasting may also encourage you to visit the Verbier Club in the Valais where you can enjoy the extensive list of fabulous Valaisan wines. The Big 67 Pall Mall Pub Quiz – Tuesday 10th February
£75.00After the resounding success of last year’s event (if for some participants more than others…) we’re delighted to be bringing back the The Big 67 Pall Mall Pub Quiz. For one night only, the St James’s Room will shed its usual polish and be reborn as a an ale-swilling tavern - well, almost. Beer and burgers will certainly make an appearance and the atmosphere will be decidedly more pub than protocol. Our resident masterminds are already hard at work, devising a fresh set of devious questions designed to test even the most well-read of Members. While a wine round – possibly in the form of a sneaky blind tasting – is firmly on the agenda, this is most definitely NOT a wine-themed evening. Expect classic pub-quiz territory: sport, music, film, current affairs and the occasional curveball. Teams of up to four are welcome, though smaller groups are warmly encouraged - and if you’d like to form a quartet with fellow Members on the night, we’ll happily play matchmaker. Each team will enjoy a selection of wines and beers at their table, alongside our signature burger and fries for every participant, all included in the ticket price. Prizes, of course, await the victorious, along with the satisfaction of outwitting one’s peers. So gather your brightest companions and join us as the 67 tavern opens its doors once again. We can’t wait to raise a glass - and a few eyebrows - with you all over again. Masterclass of Ridge Vineyards, including four vintages of Monte Bello, with winemaker John Olney – Friday 14th March
£150.00 – £165.00Price range: £150.00 through £165.00There are many elements to Ridge Vineyards that mark it out from the average Californian producer. For a start, it can trace its history back to the 1880s, when vines were first planted at Monte Bello, high in the Santa Cruz Mountains. After being abandoned during Prohibition, the site was rediscovered in the 1950s by a group of Stanford graduates with no background in winemaking. Or, as founder Paul Draper once referred to them – ‘a part-time bunch of hippies’. Amazed at the quality of the wine they were able to make, the intrepid clan concluded that it can’t have been a result of what they were doing – it must have been the terroir. As more and more wineries sprung up in California in the 1960s, most focused on grape variety rather than site. Ridge continued to focus on the latter – a cool-climate spot high in the mountains, 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean, that proved perfect for Bordeaux varietals. Today, Ridge makes around 30 different wines, from Mendocino to Paso Robles, but the core trio comprises the much-acclaimed Monte Bello Bordeaux blend, together with the Geyserville and Lytton Springs Zinfandels. We’re thrilled, then, to welcome winemaker John Olney to the Club to host a tasting of all three wines, including four vintages of the renowned Monte Bello going back a quarter of a century. John joined Ridge in 1996, starting at the Monte Bello winery before going on to lead the Lytton Springs site, building a new, largely solar-powered facility made from 3,000 bales of straw (yes, you read that correctly – straw is not only a renewable resource, but has a high insulation value, trapping the night air and keeping the winery cool, thereby reducing reliance on air-conditioning). He became head winemaker and COO in 2021, overseeing all winemaking operations at both the Monte Bello and Lytton Springs wineries. We invite you to join him for a very special tasting on a Friday evening in March. Premier Cru Chablis with Charles Curtis MW – Saturday 10th January
£145.00 – £160.00Price range: £145.00 through £160.00Most of us need something to pep us up a little in January, and we’ve got just the tonic. In anticipation of the various Burgundy 2024 en primeur tastings held by merchants in the second week of the month, we have the perfect curtain-raiser – and a chance to raise yourself from the Saturday night sofa slump – by way of a deep-dive into the wine that is often heralded as the archetypal aperitif. The focus for the evening will be the premiers crus of Chablis, taking a whistle-stop tour of some of the most notable examples, from both left bank and right bank, and exploring the stylistic differences between them. Our guide will be New York-based master of wine Charles Curtis, the former head of wine for Christie’s auction house in both the Americas and Asia. The author of The Original Grands Crus of Burgundy, Charles is now Decanter’s Burgundy correspondent. Having just completed his 2024 Chablis En Primeur report for the magazine, he is in the perfect position to provide Members with all the latest insights from the region. We are delighted to welcome Charles back to the Club for another deep-dive into this perennially popular appellation.
