Taste like a pro – a blind tasting hosted by Federico Moccia and Giacomo Apolloni – Monday 2nd June
£75.00 – £90.00Price range: £75.00 through £90.00Ever wondered how sommeliers decipher a wine’s origin, grape and age without ever seeing the label? Join us for a fun-filled evening in the St. James’s Room as Head Sommelier Federico Moccia and Deputy Head Sommelier Giacomo Apolloni guide Members through the fascinating art of blind tasting. Blind tasting is more than a party trick – it's a skill that sharpens your palate and challenges your assumptions. By removing the bias of labels and reputations, it allows you to connect directly with the wine in the glass. Whether you’re an experienced enthusiast or simply curious, this session will help you refine your tasting technique and build confidence. Over the course of the evening, you’ll taste eight wines blind, with Federico and Giacomo sharing the tips, tools and thought processes that professionals use to identify a wine’s defining traits - from structure and aroma to varietal and region. This promises to be an enjoyable, informative and palate-pleasing evening with plenty of discussion, discovery and a healthy dose of competition. For obvious reasons, the wines won’t be revealed until the night (but trust us, you won’t be disappointed…) Monday 2nd June St. James’s Room 18:30 – Glass on arrival 19:00 – Masterclass starts 20:30 – Masterclass ends Please note that we now offer a tasting board of charcuterie, cheese, olives and smoked crispy chickpeas to accompany your tasting. English sparkling wine star Gusbourne with Laura Rhys MS – Monday 8th December
£115.00 – £130.00Price range: £115.00 through £130.00Right from its founding in 2004, English sparkling wine producer Gusbourne has been resolutely focused on quality above all else. All its wines are vintage releases, and all are sourced from estate-owned vineyards. That focus reached its apogee with the release a few years ago of its prestige cuvée Fifty One Degrees North – then, and now, the most ambitiously priced English fizz on the market. Selected from the producer’s best base wines from its top plots, aged for 92 months on lees and made only in standout vintages, the second edition of the wine – the 2016 – bested the likes of Dom Pérignon, Dom Ruinart and Krug Grand Cuvée in the ‘Battle of the Bubbles’ blind tasting at the London Wine Fair earlier this year. Only 5,000 bottles have been made of the 2016 vintage, and now, a tiny number of magnums have been released – the first time it has been bottled in such a format. We are delighted to present Members with the first chance to taste the wine from magnum at an extensive tasting of the Gusbourne range. In addition, we will enjoy the first taste of a new addition to the Gusbourne portfolio – its barrel-aged Oak Reserve. There will also be a chance to sample the new vintages of the estate’s single-vineyard wines, exploring the differences between sites in Kent and Sussex, while Members will enjoy a selection of Blanc de Blancs and Blanc de Noirs, to showcase the difference between Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Gusbourne Head of Wine Laura Rhys MS moved from the floor of Michelin-starred restaurants to the vineyards of the South Downs a decade ago, and has since helped guide Gusbourne’s journey to the top table of English wine. It is fitting that, over that same time, Gusbourne has been a staunch supporter of the Club, right from our own opening a decade ago. As we prepare to celebrate our 10th anniversary, we are delighted to welcome Laura back to the Club to guide Members through what is sure to be a fantastic evening. Explore the Koshu wines of Japan – Wednesday 4th February
£70.00 – £85.00Price range: £70.00 through £85.00The first record of Japanese winemaking dates back to 1874, in Yamanashi Prefecture. Here, north of Mt Fuji on the main island, Koshu is king – Japan’s most important indigenous grape variety and now an increasingly in-vogue style across the world. Wines made from Koshu cover a broad stylistic spectrum, from refined fizz to elegant, mineral-driven whites and nuanced renderings with gentle skin contact, while the delicate pink hue of its berries echo the shades of the country’s signature cherry blossom. We are delighted to welcome seasoned sommelier Raku Oda, who specialises in the wines of his native Japan, to introduce Koshu’s stylistic diversity through a focused, engaging masterclass exploring multiple expressions. Raku’s 20-year sommelier career across Tokyo and London has most recently involved a five-year stint on the sommelier team at the three-Michelin-starred Fat Duck. Whether you are new to Koshu or keen to benchmark leading producers, this tasting offers a concise tour of the terroirs of Yamanashi – today Japan’s most important wine region – and the nuanced, food-friendly profiles that make Koshu so compelling. Ruinart Masterclass with Chef de Caves Frédéric Panaïotis – Monday 20th February
£125.00On Monday 20th February, we will be thrilled to welcome Frédéric Panaïotis, the chef de caves of Ruinart, to the Club. Ruinart stands as not only one of Champagne’s most sophisticated grandes marques, but also the region’s oldest established House, with 1729 marking its year of birth. Frédéric, whose hand has been on the Ruinart tiller since 2007, oversees its entire portfolio which stretches from the non-vintage Blanc de Blancs through to the majestic Dom Ruinart. Centred around a theme of ‘uncorked’, Frédéric - who is regarded as one of Champagne’s most talented winemakers - will be shining a light on the indispensable role that cork plays in Champagne production, most notably the ageing process. For the 2010 vintage of Dom Ruinart, Frédéric took the remarkable step of moving away from the industry norm of ageing Champagne under a crown seal to cork ageing, and this very special evening gives our Members the opportunity to taste the startling results, with both Dom Ruinart 2009 and 2010 being on the tasting menu. We look forward to you joining us for a masterclass which should be gold-plated into the diary of our Champagne-loving Members. The Memory of Swiss Wines: Rare older vintages of Switzerland’s finest with Simon Hardy DipWSET Part 1 with Fred Hoffman – Friday 29th 2022
£85.00Production of Switzerland’s top cuvées rarely exceeds 2,000 bottles per wine each year. Opportunities to taste Swiss fine wines are therefore rare, especially abroad since less than 2% of all Swiss wine is exported. ‘La Mémoire des Vins Suisses’ is an association of select producers and experts dedicated to raising the awareness and reputation of Swiss fine wines. Since 2002 it has been building a memory bank of Switzerland’s top wines, an ever-increasing cache of regularly critiqued library vintages. Currently, 57 producers contribute the same one wine year after year, representing all the leading grape varieties, styles and regions. This pair of tasting events is a truly exceptional opportunity - a first outside Switzerland - to sample a selection of the Swiss fine wines chosen by La Mémoire. In most cases, one older vintage will be poured alongside a younger vintage. Our host Simon Hardy DipWSET, Swiss Wine Ambassador at the Club, will be joined on April 29th by Fred Hoffmann whose father André owns the Domaine de la Pierre Latine and on May 6th by Gilles Besse, co-owner of Domaine Jean-René Germanier. In Switzerland, 67 Pall Mall Verbier lists all 57 wines of La Mémoire and, by the end of April, expects to become an official restaurant partner of La Mémoire, giving it exclusive access to vintages as far back as 1999. Simon will return to the Club for Part 2 of his Swiss Wine Masterclass on May 6th. The wines will be tasting: 2016 Domaine de la Pierre Latine, Clos du Crosex Grillé, Aigle Grand Cru, Vaud, Chablais 2019 Domaine de la Pierre Latine, Clos du Crosex Grillé, Aigle Grand Cru, Vaud, Chablais 2016 Domaine des Muses, Humagne Blanche Tradition, Valais 2019 Domaine des Muses, Humagne Blanche Tradition, Valais 2012 Les Frères Dutruy, Gamay Grande Réserve Les Romaines, Vaud 2019 Les Frères Dutruy, Gamay Grande Réserve Les Romaines, Vaud 2018 Weingut Donatsch, Pinot Noir Passion Graubünden 2015 Gialdi Vini - Sassi Grossi, Ticino 2019 Gialdi Vini - Sassi Grossi, Ticino Should the event sell out before you are able to secure a ticket, please register your interest on the waiting list using this form. It is for this reason that we invite Members to the first ever tasting of the Cru of Castelletto, where our vivacious hosts will be introducing the first vintage of the cru made by legendary winemaker Fabio Alessandria of Burlotto, great-great grandson of G.B. Burlotto, the first winemaker to sell Barolo in bottles. The wines of the Hospices de Beaune, both old and new – Monday 3rd November
£125.00 – £140.00Price range: £125.00 through £140.00Burgundy’s annual Hospices de Beaune auction is a benchmark of the international wine calendar. The event sees barrels of wine from the latest vintage, featuring most of the Côte de Beaune’s most famous sites, bid on by négociants, merchants and private buyers, with the proceeds going to the local hospital and other charitable causes. Maison Albert Bichot has been the major buyer at the Hospices de Beaune for many years now and we are pleased to welcome the house’s technical director, Matthieu Mangenot, to present a tasting for Members in advance of this year’s auction, which will take place on Sunday November 16th. Matthieu will present a pair of wines (red and white) to illustrate the qualities of the 2025 vintage – and to talk through the process of assessing them, along with tips on the likely availability, pricing and logistics of the wines featuring in this year’s auction. He has also selected six Hospices de Beaune wines that are now in bottle, from a range of vintages, highlighting some of the most famous cuvées, to show how these wines develop over time. Matthieu will be joined on stage by our good friend – and longstanding 67 Member – Richard Bampfield MW, to provide further insight into the mechanics of this Burgundian tradition. Technology permitting, we will also be joined by Ludivine Griveau-Gemma, régisseur at Domaines des Hospices de Beaune, who will provide an update on the 2025 vintage, live from Burgundy. The wines we will be tasting: 2020 Saint Romain, Cuvée Joseph Menault, Domaine des Hospices de Beaune 2022 Meursault, Cuvée Loppin, Domaine des Hospices de Beaune 2018 Savigny-les-Beaune (Rouge), 1er Cru Cuvée Arthur Girard, Domaine des Hospices de Beaune 2023 Beaune 1er Cru (Rouge), Cuvée Dames Hospitalières, Domaine des Hospices de Beaune 2023 Volnay 1er Cru, General Muteau, Domaine des Hospices de Beaune 2019 Corton Grand Cru, Cuvée Charlotte Dumay, Domaine des Hospices de Beaune Plus 2 x barrel samples of the 2025 vintage, TBC (1x white, 1x red) Monday 3rd November St. James’s Room 18:30 - Welcome reception 19:00 - Masterclass begins 20:30 - Masterclass endsSelect options This product has multiple variants. Classic red Burgundy with Château de Laborde and owner Hervé Kerlann – Wednesday 12th November
£125.00 – £140.00Price range: £125.00 through £140.00Think classic red Burgundy and the silky charm of Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny tend to spring readily to mind. We’re delighted, then, to introduce an evening exploring the two appellations via a domaine very much on the up… The estate of Château de Laborde can trace its history back to the 12th century, while the château itself dates back to 1678, and was making wines soon after that. Sadly, it fell into ruin after the French Revolution and was largely neglected for much of the following two centuries. That all changed when Hervé Kerlann bought the property in 1998 and immediately set about renovating the estate. He restored the château, expanded the vineyards and in 2016 built a new winery in which to vinify the six hectares of vines that he has accrued, which are focused largely on small parcels within Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle Musigny. From these he produces wines that are classic in their make-up but contemporary in their style. Vinification is traditional, with the fruit destemmed and fermented at a relatively cool temperature to extract elegant tannins. The wines are then aged for 12-18 months in 228-litre Burgundian barrels, yielding refined and authentic examples of their respective terroir. Born in Morocco, brought up in Bordeaux, and spending much of his early career in Quebec and Vancouver before setting up a wine distribution business in Asia, Hervé brings a cosmopolitan perspective to his wines. Still extremely driven in his 70s, he has made the revival of Château Laborde his third act – we invite you to join him to enjoy his stories and his wines… The wines we will be tasting: 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin, Vieilles Vignes, Château de Laborde (from magnum) 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin, En Dérée, Château de Laborde 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin, 1er Cru Goulots, Château de Laborde 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin, Aux Etelois, Château de Laborde 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin, Billards, Château de Laborde 2020 Chambolle-Musigny, Château de Laborde 2020 Chambolle-Musigny, 1er Cru Borniques, Château de Laborde 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin, 1er Cru Corbeaux, Château de Laborde Wednesday 12th November St. James’s Room 18:30 - Welcome reception 19:00 - Masterclass begins 20:30 - Masterclass endsSelect options This product has multiple variants. Château Chauvin – Grand Cru Classé star of Saint-Émilion – Wednesday 8th February
£85.00Sylvie Cazes, of the famed Cazes family of Château Lynch-Bages, was the first member of her family to buy an estate on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. In 2014, she and her children (Julie, Pierre and François Régimbeau) crossed the river to purchase Château Chauvin, a 15ha property situated in the north-west of Saint-Émilion, close to the border with Pomerol, and which has been a Grand Cru Classé since the first classification of Saint-Émilion wines in 1955. Sylvie’s arrival prompted a major overhaul of the estate, both in the cellar and the vineyard, where detailed studies led to significant and strategic replanting. The vineyard today sits on soil that echoes Pomerol and comprises a single block which surrounds the château; it is given over to 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Sylvie is one of Bordeaux’s most well-known and dynamic women. As well as owning Château Chauvin, she is president of the advisory board of Château Lynch-Bages, owner of Le Chapon Fin restaurant in Bordeaux, and president of la Cité du Vin. This is a rare and wonderful opportunity for Members to not only taste the wines of this great Saint-Émilion estate, but also spend time with Sylvie herself. Beatles B sides and A list English Wines with Nelson Pari Mmus and Richard Bampfield MW
£120.00Everyone is familiar with Beatles favourites ‘Hey Jude’, ‘Love Me Do’ and ‘Get Back’ - the gateway drugs to their myriad back-catalogue gems. The fab four have undisputedly shaped what music is today since their formation in 1960, but arguably their lasting impact can mostly be found on under-the-radar tunes hidden at the end of the acclaimed albums that we love. Following on from our previous sell-out music masterclasses hosted by Nelson Pari Mmus and Richard Bampfield MW, we are delighted to welcome back the dynamic duo for their third complete music and wine monograph. With Nelson on guitar and Richard on vocals, our hosts will pose the questions: ‘how do these tracks sound when paired with stunning examples of English sparkling wines? Will their meteoric rises to fame compare? And how do they both challenge the perception of classical methods?’ Join us as we explore each glass and song in tandem, in a distinctive tasting exclusive to 67 Pall Mall. Champagne Doyard Masterclass with Guillaume Doyard – Friday 7th October
£100.0067 Pall Mall will be welcoming Guillaume Doyard to the club on 7th October for a masterclass of the Domaine’s Champagnes, as well as a Coteaux Champenois. The Doyard family traces their winemaking roots in Champagne back to 1677 when a marriage license of Jean-Baptise Doyard showed “winegrower” as the occupation. Guillaume is the twelfth generation of his family, farming nine hectares of Premier Cru and Grand Cru Chardonnay vines on the Côte des Blancs, and one hectare of Pinot Noir in the Grand Cru village of Aÿ. The domaine employs organic farming in the vines, with most of the vineyards worked by horse. Yields are kept very low, adding to the concentrated intensity that defines the estate’s style. In the cellar, state of the art double-banked Coquard PAI presses are employed to get the cleanest and most delicate juice possible and every parcel is vinified separately in barrel. All of the wines undergo very long lees aging before disgorgement — a minimum of 48 months on all cuvées — which truly sets them apart from much of Champagne and is a key component to achieve the incredible complexity and depth that is found throughout their magnificent line-up. This will be a unique opportunity to meet the Winemaker, taste some exceptional large format pours, and better understand the philosophy that is the backbone of this “Grower Champagne”. Gian Luca Colombo is a winemaker, consultant for several producers in the Langhe, and winner of the Gambelli Award for Best Young Italian Oenologist in 2014. It is useful to note that tickets to this event are limited due to the scarcity of the wines, thus securing your ticket early is advised to avoid disappointment. The 67 Sessions: an evening of wine, words and music – Thursday 4th September
£0.00At 67 Pall Mall, we love finding new ways to bring people together to share fine wine. On Thursday 4th September, for one night only, we invite Members to join us at Westminster’s gorgeous Sinfonia Smith Square for an exquisite three-course pairing dinner accompanied by a wine-inspired jazz trio and words of wisdom from renowned wine writer Andrew Jefford. Among the audience will be some of the world’s foremost wine communicators, in town for the following day’s 67 Pall Mall Global Wine Communicator Awards. There can be no more apposite speaker, then, than the widely acclaimed Andrew Jefford, something of a doyen of the wine writing world, known for his cerebral regular columns in Decanter, and as the author of several much-garlanded books. The evening begins with Act I: Blend, and a glass of Laurent-Perrier Héritage, the house’s new prestige cuvée, along with some words from Laurent-Perrier followed by our Head of Wine Asia – and brainfather of the 67 Awards – Richard Hemming MW. Cabaret-style seating will accommodate tables of up to five guests, where your first course will be served as our illustrious trio swings through its first set. Act II: A Matter of Interpretation brings a pair of superb Chablis to the table: two versions of Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru from local legends Lucien Le Moine and Julien Brocard. With Zaltos in hand, Alex Hunt MW from Berkmann Wine Cellars will introduce the wines before the ever-eloquent Andrew will deliver his first short discourse on this theme. Then, the band will strike up again as we enjoy our second course. After a short break, Act III: The Art of the Trio opens with Scala Dei ‘Prior’ 2021 and San Leonardo 2017, showcasing a pair of masterful three-grape blends from Priorat and Trentino respectively. Following some more bons mots from Alex and Andrew, another dreamy jazz set will accompany our delicious third course. Our jazz trio comprises Champagne specialist Tom Hewson on piano, former 67 Sommelier Nelson Pari on guitar and honorary wine pro Tom Farmer on bass – with a special guest appearance from Trish Clowes on saxophone. By the time the evening ends, we promise to send you into the late-summer evening with a satisfied stomach, a stimulated mind and a joyful soul. The 67 Sessions is delighted to partner with Berkmann Wine Cellars and Laurent-Perrier UK for this special event. Please note that bookings of four or five will be seated together at their own table, while smaller groups will be sharing tables will fellow wine lovers.
