Taste eight vintages of Dom Pérignon with wine director Kathrine Larsen-Robert MS – Tuesday 10th November
Originally conceived by Moët & Chandon in the 1930s to embody the highest expression of the house’s vineyards, so markedly has its renown grown that Dom Pérignon is today deliberately presented as a house in its own right.
While still harnessing the scale and resources of its parent group, DP’s vintage-only philosophy, extended ageing regime and almost auteur-like approach gives it an identity that sees it stand somewhat apart. Certainly few other Champagnes have succeeded so completely in occupying the territory between wine, luxury and culture.
Vintage is key to the identity of Dom Pérignon, and we will explore how this plays out across a vertical tasting of eight wines, going back to 1990. Among them, we will take in the early harvests of 2018 and 2017; the sunniest summer on record in 2013; the glacial spring and extended heatwave of 2015; and the cool season of 2010, during which two months’ worth of rain fell in just two days.
We will also take in Dom Pérignon’s exploration of how Champagne develops with time, formalised by its ‘Plénitude’ concept in which different stages of each vintage’s evolution are presented as distinct expressions of each cuvée: P1 (from 8 to 15 years); P2 (15 to 25 years); and P3 (approx. 30 years).
The tasting will be hosted by 67 Pall Mall Group Wine Director (and committed Champagne enthusiast) Kathrine Larsen-Robert MS. Having trained in her native Copenhagen, Kathrine moved to London in 2007, working for restaurants including Le Pont de la Tour, Skylon and Orrery, before joining Zuma as Head Sommelier. A fomer UK Young Sommelier of the Year and UK Sommelier of the Year, she became a Master Sommelier in 2013. In 2015, she left the restaurant floor to specialise in fine wine with importer Enotria, latterly serving as its Head of Fine Wine. Kathrine joined us in 2024, as Head of Wine for Europe, moving into a new role as Group Wine Director a year later.
We invite you to join her for what should be a spellbinding evening.
