The Wine & Food of Bordeaux & the South-West France
£45.00 – £90.00Price range: £45.00 through £90.00Following the success of 67 Pall Mall’s first book ‘Wine and Food. The Perfect Match,’ we are delighted to bring you our much-anticipated second book, ‘The Wine & Food of Bordeaux & the South West of France.’ For this edition, we offer a deep-dive exploration of one of the best wine-producing regions of the world. The first half of the book is dedicated to a comprehensive study of Bordeaux’s great wines, with Ronan Sayburn MS guiding readers through the mysteries of terroir and discussing the world’s best grape varieties; where they grow and why they taste the way they do. Advice is also given on the best way to drink different wines and how to host an unforgettable wine-led dinner. In Ronan’s words, “the food of a region often matches its wines perfectly. The great wines of Bordeauxʼs Left and Right Banks should be served with France’s gastronomic classics.” As such, the second half of the book is dedicated to more than 50 exquisite recipes that pair with these wines. Everything from mushrooms on toast, to salt-marsh lamb, to elaborate desserts from South West France is covered, so there is a dish – and an expertly-paired bottle – for everyone. Written with the passion of the true wine lover and aimed at all levels of wine aficionados, this book is an expert guide through Bordeaux’s greatest pairings and belongs in everyone’s kitchen. Wine & The Food of Asia
£45.00 – £80.00Price range: £45.00 through £80.00Wine & The Food of Asia is 67 Pall Mall's third book. Authored by former Head of Wine Asia, Richard Hemming MW in collaboration with the esteemed At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy, the book explores the intricate art of pairing wine with Asian cuisine, offering readers original insights into harmonising diverse culinary traditions with the world of wine. Wine & The Food of Asia is the culmination of extensive research, including hundreds of methodical tastings conducted over the course of a year. Featuring more than 400 wines from nearly 100 grape varieties across 20 countries, the book presents 80 iconic Asian recipes paired with an array of wines—from approachable favourites to rare gems—designed to captivate both casual wine enthusiasts and seasoned collectors. At the heart of the book lies a comprehensive exploration of pairing wine with the bold, diverse, and often challenging flavours of Asian cuisine. Richard Hemming MW brings over two decades of experience in viticulture, winemaking, and wine education to this ambitious project. By bridging the worlds of wine and Asian gastronomy, Hemming challenges traditional approaches and offers a fresh perspective on pairing wine with dishes from 13 countries, including India, Nepal, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Korea, Japan—and, of course, Singapore. In addition to being a wine reference, Wine & The Food of Asia doubles as a practical kitchen guide. Recipes for beloved dishes such as Pad Thai and Black Pepper Crab, provided by the culinary experts at the At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy, are accompanied by expertly curated wine pairings. For each recipe, Hemming suggests one primary match along with at least two alternative options, giving readers flexibility and inspiration. “Matching wine with food is about the pursuit of pleasure, not dogma. The most enjoyable part of creating this book was cooking the recipes at home and pairing them with great wines. For me, it’s all about bringing people together to share good food and wonderful wine. That’s the essence of what 67 Pall Mall is about,” shares Richard Hemming MW. Jeannie Cho Lee MW lauds the book, saying, “It was with delight and pleasure that I read this much-needed book. The world of wine is vast and deep; the world of Asian cuisine may be even more complex. Bringing the two together is nothing short of herculean!” Whether used as a wine guide, a cookbook, or a source of inspiration, this book is an essential addition to the collections of wine and food lovers everywhere. The book is priced at £45.00, the pricing below includes shipping. We kindly ask Members who wish to collect their order from Club to indicate their desired date in the order notes. Saint-Emilion Grands Crus Walkaround Tasting – Wednesday 29th January
£75.00While we know that many Members enjoy in-depth tastings of individual properties, guided by the winemaker themselves, we are equally aware that others enjoy a broader, more relaxed approach. Specifically, we have been asked for more walkaround tastings, where Members can come and go as they please, with the freedom to cherry-pick wines to taste at their own pace. We are delighted, then, to welcome a selection of St Emilion Grands Crus to the Club to showcase the 2020 vintage in just such a format. On a relaxed Wednesday evening at the end of January, a total of 20 châteaux will each present their grand vin from this reputed vintage, alongside one other, older wine of their choosing. The 2020 vintage was the third in an acclaimed Bordeaux triumvirate that saw a warm, early harvest of high quality and low yields. On first release, the wines of the Right Bank were generally seen as more consistent than those of the Left, with St-Emilion’s preponderance of Merlot making for rich, concentrated, dark-fruited wines that will undoubtedly benefit from time in cellar. Four years on from their first taste, this will be a wonderful opportunity to assess their evolution in bottle. Each producer will be represented by the owner, winemaker or other representative, who will be on hand to provide as much insight and detail as Members might want. We hope to see you there. The wines that will be available to taste: 2020 & 2016 Château Badette, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2019 Château Bellefont Belcier, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2015 Château Chauvin, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2016 Clos de l’Oratoire, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2017 Château Croix de Labrie, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2019 Château de Ferrand, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2010 Château de Pressac, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2016 Château Faugères, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2016 Château Peby Faugères, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2019 Château Fonplégade, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2019 Château Fonroque, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2016 Château Grand Corbin, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2016 Grand Corbin-Despagne, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2018 Château La Confession, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2015 Château La Croizille, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2016 Château Tour Baladoz, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2015 Château La Fleur Morange, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2019 Château Laroque, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2015 Château Laroze, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2015 Château Montlabert, St-Emilion Grand Cru Wednesday 29th January St. James's Room 18:30 - Walkaround tasting starts 20:30 - Walkaround tasting endsRead morePlease note, tickets are refundable for cancellations up to 5 days before the event. Walkaround tasting of Swiss wines – Monday 10th November
£65.00 – £75.00Price range: £65.00 through £75.00Select options This product has multiple variants. The options may be chosen on the product pageFor one night only, we are bringing the Alps to the St. James’s Room for a wide-ranging, walkaround tasting of Swiss wines. Members will have the opportunity to sample around 100 wines from more than 20 producers, representing all six of Switzerland’s wine regions. Several of the winemakers will be there in person to share their stories and guide you through the country’s remarkable Alpine terroir.
The evening forms part of Swiss Wine Week London, organised by Swiss Wine Ambassador and Club Member Simon Hardy DipWSET on behalf of Swiss Wine Promotion, who will also be in attendance. A selection of authentic Swiss cheeses will be served alongside the wines, completing the Alpine experience.
Members can expect to explore Switzerland’s diversity of grapes - from native classics like Chasselas and Cornalin, to rare discoveries such as Räuschling and Galotta, as well as familiar varieties including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah and Merlot. The tasting offers a glimpse into Switzerland’s ‘heroic viticulture’ - where steep slopes, mountain microclimates and craftsmanship combine to produce wines of exceptional purity and character.
Switzerland’s vineyards are roughly the same size as Alsace but, as the country consumes almost all the wine it produces, only a small proportion makes it to the rest of the world. We are proud to have long offered a wide selection of Swiss wines here in London, while our Alpine home in Verbier has one of the most comprehensive lists of Swiss wines to be found.
Members will also have the opportunity to purchase a copy of the newly published Switzerland – The Smart Traveller’s Wine Guide from the Académie du Vin Library, co-authored by Simon Hardy and Marc Checkley.
