An exclusive invite to participate in the 67 Pall Mall Wine Academy – Wednesday 13th – Friday 15th August
£600.00As you are all aware, 67 Pall Mall is engaged in an exciting global development programme, with Clubs due to open in Bordeaux, Shanghai, Melbourne and more in the near future. This brings into focus the need to develop a talent pipeline, particularly for our sommelier teams, who are fundamental to delivering the outstanding wine experience that defines our Clubs. At the same time, we have been exploring ways to further develop our relationship with the charitable Gérard Basset Foundation, which is committed to facilitating the recruitment of young people from diverse backgrounds into the hospitality trade. All of which has led us to establish the 67 Pall Mall Wine Academy. This new initiative will not only provide opportunities for emerging talent and potential wine professionals, but also for you, our Members, to learn more about wine through our dedicated team of in-house experts. It will also afford Gerard Basset scholars valuable exposure to the world of exceptional service via an intensive programme of learning, tasting and personal development in the world’s most prestigious wine Club. The curriculum has been designed and will be delivered by the Club’s Heads of Wine in Europe and Asia, Kathrine Larsen-Robert MS and Richard Hemming MW, and will also feature selected guest contributors from across the wine world. It will combine structured seminars, hands-on learning, high-level tastings and dinners at top-end restaurants and in the Club, with deep dives into classic regions and styles via benchmark wines from some of the world’s finest producers. The ultimate aim is to educate and inspire through mentorship, knowledge and shared experience. Among the highlights of the programme will be: • A Bordeaux benchmarking tasting, featuring classed growth wines from the last three decades • A Prestige Cuvée Champagne comparative tasting • An ‘Icons of the New World’ tasting • Seminars on service, sustainability and blind-tasting techniques • Two dinners, including a private dinner at Restaurant 1890 by Gordon Ramsay at The Savoy It is important to note that this is not a formal academic course or qualification. Rather, from a Club perspective, the initiative helps us to identify talent for our growing number of Clubs across the world, while also cementing our role at the heart of the industry in nurturing the next generation of wine professionals. From a Member perspective, it is intended to provide committed wine lovers with a greater understanding and exposure to the world of fine wine, through the lens of professionals and mentors. The Academy is ultimately set to be a five-day residential programme, held across our Clubs around the world. In the first instance, however, we are launching the initiative with a small-scale, three-day immersion in London this summer, and we have a handful of places for Members, which we are delighted to offer on an invite-only basis. Venue: 67 Pall Mall and other central London venues Date: Daytime and evening, 13th-15th August (exact timings and schedule to follow) The price covers all wines and meals costs. Experimental writing workshop with Anna Barham – Wednesday 11th January
£60.00Continuing our series of art-led cultural events, we are delighted to announce an evening celebrating a refresh of the artwork in the St. James's Room, with artist Anna Barham. To mark the beginning of the exhibition, Anna will introduce our Members to her work, and take us on a journey through the different strategies of experimental writing which inform her practice. These strategies ruminate around the concept of learning something 'by heart'. Think of song lyrics or phone numbers and how once learnt, they seem to be etched inside you, like your name. For a variety of reasons, from the rise of smartphones to changes in educational methods, learning ‘by heart’ can seem somewhat old hat, however, during Anna’s talk, we will consider how the slow and repetitive practice of committing a text to memory can, in fact, open up new ways of reading and thinking. Anna Barham is a London-based artist working between video, sound, print, installation, and performance. Her practice considers language as it moves between different material forms, technologies, and bodies. Her work is in public collections including Tate, V&A, Government Art Collection, MIMA, SFMoMA & CGAC. Anna is currently a practice-based PhD candidate at Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford. Wednesday 11th January St. James’s Room 18:30 to 20:30 - Champagne and canapés will be servedAdd to cartPlease note, tickets are refundable for cancellations up to 48 hours before the event. Cancellations must be made in writing to [email protected]. Any cancellations within 48 hours of the event are non-refundable unless 67 Pall Mall resells the ticket to another Member. Amarone, Bardolino and Soave with Guerrieri Rizzardi – Tuesday 21st October
£75.00 – £90.00Price range: £75.00 through £90.00The Veneto is a wonderfully eclectic part of the Italian wine scene, yielding wines as diverse as Amarone and Prosecco, Bardolino and Soave. Few producers, though, tend to make them all… Guerrieri Rizzardi is a historic estate, established through the union of two noble families – the Guerrieris of Bardolino and the Rizzardis of Valpolicella – with winemaking roots dating back to the 15th century. Today, it remains family-owned and run, with a particular focus on sustainable, terroir-driven winemaking across its three estates in Valpolicella, Bardolino and Soave. The resultant range spans light, aromatic whites to robust reds, with particular acclaim for its Amarone della Valpolicella. The family vineyards take in some of the most prestigious appellations of the Veneto, including the historic Clos Roareti vineyard in Valpolicella. The winery emphasises minimal intervention in both vineyard and cellar, aiming to balance environmental stewardship with the production of expressive, ageworthy wines that showcase the Veneto’s rich heritage and varied microclimates. Irish-born Daniel Stewart moved to Italy in 2013 and is one of the directors of the historic house, based at its main winery in Bardolino. We invite you to join him to discover these terroir-driven, classically authentic wines. The wines we will be tasting: 2024 Soave Classico, Costeggiola, Guerrieri Rizzardi 2024 Lugana, Guerrieri Rizzardi 2023 Montebaldo Bardolino, Delara, Guerrieri Rizzardi 2023 Bardolino Classico, Cuvée XV, Guerrieri Rizzardi 2019 Amarone della Valpolicalla Classico, 3 Cru, Guerrieri Rizzardi 2019 Amarone della Valpolicalla Classico Riserva, Villa Rizzardi, Guerrieri Rizzardi 2015 Amarone della Valpolicalla Classico Riserva, Villa Rizzardi, Guerrieri Rizzardi 2015 Amarone della Valpolicalla Classico Riserva, Calcarole, Guerrieri Rizzardi 2005 Amarone della Valpolicalla Classico Riserva, Calcarole, Guerrieri Rizzardi 2020 Recioto di Soave Classico, Rizzardi Tuesday 21st October St. James’s Room 18:30 - Welcome reception 19:00 - Masterclass begins 20:30 - Masterclass endsSelect options This product has multiple variants. ‘Reds from off the beaten path’ BYOB dinner – Saturday 18th October
£135.00Read moreAs the evenings draw in, we’re lifting the mood with a series of Saturday BYOBs – the perfect opportunity to gather at the Club on weekends, combining conviviality, discovery and fine food. We begin in October by inviting Members to unearth an unusual red – the kind of bottle that engenders intrigue and raised eyebrows when presented at the table. Think outside the classics - a smoky Trousseau from the Jura, perhaps, or a crunchy Mencía from Ribeira Sacra, Or maybe a pine-scented Greek Xinomavro. The more recherché, the better (though do please exercise some quality control…) We invite Members to raid their cellars for the unexpected, the extraordinary and the delightfully offbeat. Querciabella Camartina Tasting – Tuesday 1st November
£95.00Established by Giuseppe Castiglioni in the 1970s, Querciabella was born from a single hectare of Tuscan hillside and a dream to craft elegant, rich wines not only from Tuscany’s indigenous Sangiovese, but also the signature grapes of Giuseppe’s beloved Bordeaux and Burgundy. Ringed by a sheltering forest of majestic oaks (Querciabella translates as ‘beautiful oak’), the estate now stretches for over 100ha and, under the command of Giuseppe’s son Sebastiano, has long been one of the most forward-thinking producers in Italy, with winemaking following vegan biodynamic principles and all operations on the estate being plant based. Querciabella’s wines have been described as Burgundian in spirit, and this masterclass - led by winemaker Manfred Ing - is a rare opportunity to indulge in a vertical tasting of its flagship wine Camartina, a Sangiovese-Cabernet blend lauded for its nuanced opulence and seductive nature. We will also be treated to one of the purest expressions of Sangiovese in Querciabella’s Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, so join us in the St. James’s Room for an evening of textbook Tuscany not to be missed. Five-course paired dinner with English pioneer Nyetimber – Tuesday 4th November
£210.00Read moreAmid the fast-paced evolution of English wine in recent years, one name has stood resolutely at the top of the tree. Since its first vines were planted in 1988, and its first vintage was made in 1992, Nyetimber has set the benchmark for English fizz. The West Sussex-based producer was the pioneer of harnessing the classic Champagne varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, and also led the way in releasing a prestige cuvée, a single-vineyard wine and a demi-sec, all while focusing solely on sparkling wine. The estate’s story stretches back to the first mention of ‘Nitimbreha’ in the Domesday Book of 1086 (the year which now provides the name of the estate’s prestige cuvée). Today its vineyards are spread across 11 sites on south-facing slopes and chalk-rich soils covering 425 hectares in Sussex, Hampshire and Kent. We are delighted to welcome Nyetimber’s head viticulturalist Ben Kanstler and his colleague Charlie Lowe for a very special dinner designed to showcase the ageing potential of the wines. Guests will enjoy a line-up of library vintages dating back to 2003, paired with a bespoke five-course menu based around British produce and dishes. We invite you to join us for this rather special occasion. Unveiling the secret of Kosher wines with Tal Sunderland-Cohen | Wednesday 25th August
£80.00Add to cartWine has a long history in Judaism: archaeological evidence shows that wine has been produced since ancient times. Today, kosher wines are used for both religious purposes and non-religious occasions in Israel, as well as the international diaspora.
Many people are confused by what "kosher" really means, and Kosher wine is often associated with sweet, boiled wines for sacramental purposes. Beginning in the 1980s, however, a trend towards producing dry, premium-quality kosher wines began with the revival of the Israeli wine industry.
Beautiful kosher wines are now produced in Israel and across the globe, including New Zealand, Spain, and even Burgundy.
Tal Sunderland-Cohen will guide an exploration of traditional wines from ancient times, through a tasting of some of the best kosher wines in the world.
