MS vs MW reloaded, with Kathrine Larsen-Robert MS and Richard Bampfield MW – Thursday 27th November
It is widely recognised that the Master Sommelier (MS) and Master of Wine (MW) qualifications represent the pinnacles of service and academic achievement in the wine world. The challenge of the blind tasting elements of the examinations alone is enough to send most of us into a cold sweat…
There are 416 Masters of Wine dotted around the world, and 269 Master Sommeliers. And here at 67 Pall Mall, we are fortunate to work with several of them.
In November, we will welcome the return of Club Member and friend, Richard Bampfield MW, alongside our Head of Wine for Europe, Kathrine Larsen-Robert MS, for a rescheduled follow-up to their much-loved event from earlier this year.
This time, the pair will explore their different approaches to tasting, their motivations for pursuing their qualifications, and the work involved in the two different programmes. Both Kathrine and Richard have selected wines that have been an influence on their initial love for the subject and their subsequent careers – blind tastings are likely to feature!
Join is for an informative but informal insight into the minds of an MW and an MS, and put your palate to the taste alongside the professionals…
The wines we will be tasting:
2014 Fleur de Passion, Blanc de Blancs, Diebolt-Vallois, Champagne
2013 Dom Pérignon, Brut, Champagne
2019 Savennières, Les Genêts, Damien Laureau, Loire Valley
