Intimate dinner with Jasmine Hirsch of California’s pioneering Hirsch Vineyards – Monday 20th April
£225.00When David Hirsch bought a remote sheep ranch on the Sonoma Coast in 1978, it wasn’t with the intention of making wine. A college dropout in New York, he’d moved west to pursue a career in women’s fashion that took him on regular trips to France where he cultivated a love of Burgundy. Even after planting vines two years later, for the next two decades, David concentrated on farming the soils, selling his grapes to the likes of Littorai, Kistler and Williams Selyem, all of which made Hirsch-designated wines. It was only in 2002, fascinated by the different nuances of his 60 different plots spread across his 72 acres, that he began making his own wines. A decade later, after years working closely with Californian trailblazer Ted Lemon of Littorai, he was farming the whole lot biodynamically, and the wines began garnering serious critical attention. Having returned to the estate in 2008 following a career in finance, David’s daughter Jasmine took over as general manager in 2015, after her father suffered a serious tractor accident. For the last seven years, she has also been its winemaker, producing a range of often small-production, single-vineyard Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays that represent the variety of soils, aspects and microclimates here in one of California's smallest AVAs, Fort Ross-Seaview, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We are delighted to welcome Jasmine to the Club to present a selection of these refined, sophisticated wines over a small dinner for 12 Members in the Lutyens Room. The wines we’ll be enjoying: 2024 Estate Chardonnay, Hirsch Vineyards 2023 Estate Chardonnay, Hirsch Vineyards, Fort Ross-Seaview, Sonoma Coast 2023 Bohan Dillon Pinot Noir, Hirsch Vineyards, Fort Ross-Seaview, Sonoma Coast 2023 West Ridge Estate Pinot Noir, Hirsch Vineyards, Fort Ross-Seaview, Sonoma Coast 2023 East Ridge Estate Pinot Noir, Hirsch Vineyards, Fort Ross-Seaview, Sonoma Coast 2023 Raschen Ridge Pinot Noir, Hirsch Vineyards, Fort Ross-Seaview, Sonoma Coast 2020 Reserve Estate Pinot Noir, Hirsch Vineyards, Fort Ross-Seaview, Sonoma Coast 2018 East Ridge Estate Pinot Noir, Hirsch Vineyards, Fort Ross-Seaview, Sonoma Coast The menu: Starter: Tuna loin, watermelon, meat radish and shiso with ponzu sauce Main: Roasted guinea fowl, English garden salad, pomme purée, tarragon & sherry béarnaise Dessert: A selection of British & European cheeses Please email [email protected] if you have any requests as regards seating arrangements and for any dietary requirements. An exclusive invitation to taste the world’s oldest single malt Scotch whisky – Wednesday 24th September
£0.00Earlier this year, Gordon & MacPhail announced the release of the world’s oldest single malt Scotch whisky – Gordon & MacPhail 85 Years Old from Glenlivet Distillery, due for release in October. We are delighted, then, to invite a select group of whisky-loving Members to sample this liquid, and to taste a drop of liquid history. For more than 130 years, over four generations of family ownership, independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail has matched its own specially selected casks with spirit from over 100 Scottish distilleries. It was on 3rd February, 1940, in a quiet corner of the north-east of Scotland, that George Urquhart and his father, John, decided to lay down spirit from Glenlivet Distillery in a Gordon & MacPhail American oak cask to be enjoyed after their lifetime. During wartime, whisky production was curtailed due to rationing and lack of manpower, with the vast majority of malt whisky destined for the blends that dominated the market. Gordon and MacPhail was unusual in earmarking casks to be bottled in their own right as single malts. Only when the whisky was deemed ready would Cask 336 be shared. That time ended up being 85 years later – longer than any other single malt Scotch whisky in history – when the decision was taken to finally empty the cask and a total of 125 decanters of the 85 years old whisky were bottled – ‘not because it’s very old,’ says 4th generation family member Stephen Rankin, ‘but because of the quality’. Stephen will be our host to guide Members through not only the Gordon & MacPhail 85 Years Old from Glenlivet Distillery, but three other rare single malts from Gordon & MacPhail’s Rare Spirit Liquid Library. Please note that, while this is a complimentary event, it is limited to 24 attendees, and we have extended the initial invitation only to a select group of the Club’s Membership. We would ask, therefore, that if you sign up to the event and are then unable to attend, you let us know as soon as possible, so that we can offer your place to another Member. MS vs MW reloaded, with Kathrine Larsen-Robert MS and Richard Bampfield MW – Thursday 27th November
£115.00 – £130.00Price range: £115.00 through £130.00It is widely recognised that the Master Sommelier (MS) and Master of Wine (MW) qualifications represent the pinnacles of service and academic achievement in the wine world. The challenge of the blind tasting elements of the examinations alone is enough to send most of us into a cold sweat… There are 416 Masters of Wine dotted around the world, and 269 Master Sommeliers. And here at 67 Pall Mall, we are fortunate to work with several of them. In November, we will welcome the return of Club Member and friend, Richard Bampfield MW, alongside our Head of Wine for Europe, Kathrine Larsen-Robert MS, for a rescheduled follow-up to their much-loved event from earlier this year. This time, the pair will explore their different approaches to tasting, their motivations for pursuing their qualifications, and the work involved in the two different programmes. Both Kathrine and Richard have selected wines that have been an influence on their initial love for the subject and their subsequent careers – blind tastings are likely to feature! Join is for an informative but informal insight into the minds of an MW and an MS, and put your palate to the taste alongside the professionals… The wines we will be tasting: 2014 Fleur de Passion, Blanc de Blancs, Diebolt-Vallois, Champagne 2013 Dom Pérignon, Brut, Champagne 2019 Savennières, Les Genêts, Damien Laureau, Loire Valley 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, Phenomena, Castello di Argiano (Sesti) 2010 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine du Pégau, Rhône Valley 2009 Chateau Beychevelle, St-Julien, Bordeaux 2022 Orange Muscat & Flora, Brown Brothers, Victoria, Australia Thursday 27th November St James’s Room 18:30 - Welcome reception 19:00 - Masterclass starts 20:30 - Masterclass endsSelect options This product has multiple variants. Burgundy: The Viticultural Revolution with William Kelley – Thursday 2nd March
£595.00The last handful of years has witnessed a viticultural revolution in Burgundy, unprecedented since the era of phylloxera. The manner in which vineyards are planted, how soils are cultivated and the way canopies are managed are all being rethought, with profound consequences for the wine in the glass. In this masterclass, William Kelley of The Wine Advocate explores this movement through the lens of some of Burgundy’s leading practitioners’ wines, ranging from grand cru vineyards to more humble appellations, all united by a common pursuit of excellence and willingness to adapt in a changing climate. We are delighted to welcome William to the St. James's Room for the first time, in what is sure to be an insightful and memorable evening spent tasting some truly exceptional Burgundy wines. Members should keep their eyes keenly trained on their inboxes for further exciting events with William in anticipation of the 2025 opening of our new Club in Beaune. William Kelley fell in love with wine while studying at Oxford, where he presided over the university's prestigious Wine Circle for three years while completing a doctorate in history. In addition to hosting tastings with many of the Old World's greatest wineries, ranging from Bordeaux first growths to boutique producers such as Yves Gangloff and Marta Rinaldi, he brought many of California's most celebrated winemakers to Oxford for the first time. Kelley had the privilege to cut his teeth as a taster on many of the great wines of Burgundy and Bordeaux of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. After a stint covering Burgundy for Decanter magazine and working harvests in both California and the Côte d'Or, he made the move to The Wine Advocate in 2017, where his firsthand experience making wine of his own in Burgundy and California informs his writing style. We look forward to seeing you there. The wines we will be tasting: 2017 Domaine Jean-Marc Vincent St.Aubin 'Les Combes' 1er Cru, Jean-Marc Vincent 2018 Rully Blanc Maizières, Domaine Dureuil-Janthial 2017 Domaine Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin La Princée 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Domaine Lamy Caillat 2017 Volnay 1er Cru "Les Caillerets", Domaine Jean-Marc Bouley 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin, Vieilles Vignes, Domaine Dugat-Py 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Herbues, Nicolas Faure 2017 Corton, Les Grèves, Grand Cru, Domaine des Croix 2018 Domaine Bruno Lorenzon Mercurey 'Pièce 15' Thursday 2nd March St. James’s Room 18:30 – Glass on arrival 19:00 – Masterclass begins 20:30 – Masterclass endsRead morePlease note, tickets are refundable for cancellations up to 48 hours before the event. What Makes a great Vintage in Burgundy? With Jasper Morris MW – Tuesday 26th April
£495.00Some are born great and some have greatness thrust upon them. Some wonderful vintages are delicious from the start, others you have to wait for. The debate continues between the more muscular 2009 and the deliciously svelte 2010: the former heralded from the start as a great vintage for Burgundy, the latter a more unexpected delight. Which is better now? Which will thrill us more in another decade? Jasper Morris MW will lead us through four pairs of wines, beginning with Domaine Leflaive’s superb 1er Cru Folatières. Our main focus will be on the red wines, leading in with a pair of premiers crus from Auxey-Duresses made by the insufficiently acclaimed Romain Taupenot, in charge of the family domaine in Morey St-Denis. The next pairing is a regular favourite: Frédéric Mugnier has shown such flair since he took over the Clos de la Maréchale vineyard in 2004, the first 1er cru in the Côte de Nuits as you head north from Beaune. Doubtless the least accessible now with the greatest promise for the future will be Faiveley’s fabulous grand cru Chambertin Clos de Bèze. What a series of wines to savour, with the added thrill of the competition between two great vintages in very different styles. Wines 2010 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Folatières, Domaine Leflaive 2009 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Folatières, Domaine Leflaive 2010 Auxey Duresses 1er Cru, Domaine Taupenot-Merme 2009 Auxey Duresses 1er Cru, Domaine Taupenot-Merme 2010 Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale, Domaine J-F Mugnier 2009 Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale, Domaine J-F Mugnier 2010 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru, Domaine Faiveley 2009 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru, Domaine Faiveley Should the event sell out before you are able to secure a ticket, please register your interest on the waiting list using this form. The changing face of Cabernet with Château Lascombes and Casa Real – Thursday 25th June
£75.00 – £90.00Price range: £75.00 through £90.00Select options This product has multiple variants. The options may be chosen on the product pageHere at 67, we’re constantly learning. And while no such commitment is required of Members, we tend to think most of you relish delving deeper into the stories behind what’s in your glass. So when Bordeaux’s Château Lascombes and Chile’s Santa Rita came to us with the idea of a joint event, we were keen to explore ways to make it more than a simple comparative exercise.
The result is a tasting exploring how wineries reliant on Cabernet Sauvignon are adapting to shifting conditions in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Through multiple vintages, we’'ll examine stylistic evolution, regional expression and the impact of climate change on structure, balance and longevity. And enjoy some stellar wines along the way… Viña Santa Rita is one of Chile's oldest and most reputed names, best known for its flagship wine, Casa Real. Arguably Chile’s first ‘icon’ wine, Casa Real comes from a spot in the foothills of the Andes where vines were first planted in the mid-1600s, and where Cabernet Sauvignon was the primary variety by the time Santa Rita was founded in 1880. A century later, after decades of field analyses, it identified the precise block that yields the wine’s stellar reputation. Bordeaux second growth Château Lascombes has long been known for wines that marry Margaux’s signature perfume and elegance with a comparatively generous style. Since the estate was acquired by the US-based Lawrence family in 2022, it has sought to balance that power with greater freshness, precision and terroir expression. With critics praising the increased refinement of recent vintages, Lascombes is widely viewed as one of Bordeaux’s most interesting ‘watch this space’ estates. We’re thrilled to be joined by Sebastián Labbé, head winemaker of Viña Santa Rita, and Axel Heinz, CEO of Château Lascombes, for an event chaired by industry consultant – and 67 Member – Richard Bampfield MW. Sebastián studied viticulture and oenology in New Zealand, making wine both there and in Australia before returning to Chile in 2005 and joining Viña Santa Rita. After 12 years as head winemaker at its Viña Carmen he took over the group’s premium wines, headed by Casa Real. Having studied winemaking and started his career in Bordeaux, Axel Heinz made his reputation over an 18-year stint as winemaker of the famed SuperTuscans Ornellaia and Masseto. He returned to Bordeaux in 2023 to lead the long-term transformation of Lascombes. Both will introduce expressions from cooler and warmer vintages, those impacted by frost and drought, current releases and more mature examples, to illustrate the interplay between climate, terroir and time. Thanks to the generosity of both producers, we expect a keen response to this rare opportunity to gain insight into the evolving narrative of Cabernet Sauvignon at a global level. Early booking is recommended. An exclusive invite to participate in the 67 Pall Mall Wine Academy – Wednesday 13th – Friday 15th August
£600.00As you are all aware, 67 Pall Mall is engaged in an exciting global development programme, with Clubs due to open in Bordeaux, Shanghai, Melbourne and more in the near future. This brings into focus the need to develop a talent pipeline, particularly for our sommelier teams, who are fundamental to delivering the outstanding wine experience that defines our Clubs. At the same time, we have been exploring ways to further develop our relationship with the charitable Gérard Basset Foundation, which is committed to facilitating the recruitment of young people from diverse backgrounds into the hospitality trade. All of which has led us to establish the 67 Pall Mall Wine Academy. This new initiative will not only provide opportunities for emerging talent and potential wine professionals, but also for you, our Members, to learn more about wine through our dedicated team of in-house experts. It will also afford Gerard Basset scholars valuable exposure to the world of exceptional service via an intensive programme of learning, tasting and personal development in the world’s most prestigious wine Club. The curriculum has been designed and will be delivered by the Club’s Heads of Wine in Europe and Asia, Kathrine Larsen-Robert MS and Richard Hemming MW, and will also feature selected guest contributors from across the wine world. It will combine structured seminars, hands-on learning, high-level tastings and dinners at top-end restaurants and in the Club, with deep dives into classic regions and styles via benchmark wines from some of the world’s finest producers. The ultimate aim is to educate and inspire through mentorship, knowledge and shared experience. Among the highlights of the programme will be: • A Bordeaux benchmarking tasting, featuring classed growth wines from the last three decades • A Prestige Cuvée Champagne comparative tasting • An ‘Icons of the New World’ tasting • Seminars on service, sustainability and blind-tasting techniques • Two dinners, including a private dinner at Restaurant 1890 by Gordon Ramsay at The Savoy It is important to note that this is not a formal academic course or qualification. Rather, from a Club perspective, the initiative helps us to identify talent for our growing number of Clubs across the world, while also cementing our role at the heart of the industry in nurturing the next generation of wine professionals. From a Member perspective, it is intended to provide committed wine lovers with a greater understanding and exposure to the world of fine wine, through the lens of professionals and mentors. The Academy is ultimately set to be a five-day residential programme, held across our Clubs around the world. In the first instance, however, we are launching the initiative with a small-scale, three-day immersion in London this summer, and we have a handful of places for Members, which we are delighted to offer on an invite-only basis. Venue: 67 Pall Mall and other central London venues Date: Daytime and evening, 13th-15th August (exact timings and schedule to follow) The price covers all wines and meals costs. Chef’s table dinner – Wednesday 29th April
£425.00Following the success of our first Chef’s table dinner last June, when we showcased the finest expression of our in-house food and wine expertise, we are delighted to announce our next iteration on Wednesday 29th April. As you were previously added to our waitlist for this event we are delighted to offer you an exclusive pre-sale for this intimate private dinner. Our Executive Chef, Dan Page – whose career includes time in Michelin-starred and AA Rosette-awarded kitchens across Europe – has carefully crafted a seasonal eight-course tasting menu for the occasion. Each dish will be paired with wines personally selected by Head of Wine Operations London Federico Moccia, who will be hosting the evening alongside our General Manager, Martijn Brouwer. Held within the refined surroundings of the Wine Library, this experience offers far more than fine food and wine. Members will enjoy the unique opportunity to gain direct insight into Federico’s wine pairings, with Dan personally presenting his menu course-by-course. With only seven seats available, places are strictly limited. Should you be unable to secure a ticket but wish to join the waiting list or register your interest in attending a future Chef’s Table, please click here – we will ensure you are among the first to be notified. Experimental writing workshop with Anna Barham – Wednesday 11th January
£60.00Continuing our series of art-led cultural events, we are delighted to announce an evening celebrating a refresh of the artwork in the St. James's Room, with artist Anna Barham. To mark the beginning of the exhibition, Anna will introduce our Members to her work, and take us on a journey through the different strategies of experimental writing which inform her practice. These strategies ruminate around the concept of learning something 'by heart'. Think of song lyrics or phone numbers and how once learnt, they seem to be etched inside you, like your name. For a variety of reasons, from the rise of smartphones to changes in educational methods, learning ‘by heart’ can seem somewhat old hat, however, during Anna’s talk, we will consider how the slow and repetitive practice of committing a text to memory can, in fact, open up new ways of reading and thinking. Anna Barham is a London-based artist working between video, sound, print, installation, and performance. Her practice considers language as it moves between different material forms, technologies, and bodies. Her work is in public collections including Tate, V&A, Government Art Collection, MIMA, SFMoMA & CGAC. Anna is currently a practice-based PhD candidate at Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford. Wednesday 11th January St. James’s Room 18:30 to 20:30 - Champagne and canapés will be servedAdd to cartPlease note, tickets are refundable for cancellations up to 48 hours before the event.
