Live from the Vines: Inglenook
Hosted by Francis Coppola, Philippe Bascaules & Ronan Sayburn MS In 1975, Film Director Francis Coppola purchased the historic Inglenook property, intent on restoring the estate’s legacy of creating world-class wines equal to those that founder Gustave Niebaum and his grandnephew John Daniel Jr. made for decades. Francis, with his wife Eleanor spent forty years reuniting the original vineyards, returning winemaking operations to the chateau and restoring Inglenook’s illustrious heritage. With the help of renowned wine consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt and Winemaker Philippe Bascaules, they restored the estate with the original name, Inglenook. Despite the name changes over the past few years, the wines have remained at the pinnacle of what Rutherford and Napa Valley have to offer, consistently achieving ratings in the mid 90 point range. Deep Dive Bordeaux: A vintage Comparison of 1988, 1989 & 1990
Hosted by Jane Anson & Tracey Dobbin MW It was good to be Bordelais in the 1980s. Something shifted with the brilliance of the 1982 vintage; a quickening of interest from international consumers, confidence from château owners to leave grapes longer on the vines and increasingly to drop fruit and cut yields. Volumes were risked in search of ripeness, concentration, and quality. The vintages 1988, 1989 and 1990 are often held up as one of the great trilogies of 20th century Bordeaux. In this episode of Deep Dive Bordeaux, Jane Anson discusses if they are delivering on the hype with MW and fellow Bordeaux resident Tracey Dobbin.
