What Makes a great Vintage in Burgundy? With Jasper Morris MW – Tuesday 26th April
£495.00Some are born great and some have greatness thrust upon them. Some wonderful vintages are delicious from the start, others you have to wait for. The debate continues between the more muscular 2009 and the deliciously svelte 2010: the former heralded from the start as a great vintage for Burgundy, the latter a more unexpected delight. Which is better now? Which will thrill us more in another decade? Jasper Morris MW will lead us through four pairs of wines, beginning with Domaine Leflaive’s superb 1er Cru Folatières. Our main focus will be on the red wines, leading in with a pair of premiers crus from Auxey-Duresses made by the insufficiently acclaimed Romain Taupenot, in charge of the family domaine in Morey St-Denis. The next pairing is a regular favourite: Frédéric Mugnier has shown such flair since he took over the Clos de la Maréchale vineyard in 2004, the first 1er cru in the Côte de Nuits as you head north from Beaune. Doubtless the least accessible now with the greatest promise for the future will be Faiveley’s fabulous grand cru Chambertin Clos de Bèze. What a series of wines to savour, with the added thrill of the competition between two great vintages in very different styles. Wines 2010 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Folatières, Domaine Leflaive 2009 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Folatières, Domaine Leflaive 2010 Auxey Duresses 1er Cru, Domaine Taupenot-Merme 2009 Auxey Duresses 1er Cru, Domaine Taupenot-Merme 2010 Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale, Domaine J-F Mugnier 2009 Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale, Domaine J-F Mugnier 2010 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru, Domaine Faiveley 2009 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru, Domaine Faiveley Should the event sell out before you are able to secure a ticket, please register your interest on the waiting list using this form. Deep Dive Bordeaux: The Perfume of Wine
Hosted by Jane Anson, Alexandre Schmitt & Michael Silacci What does it mean when you say a wine has blue, red or black fruits? What difference does it make to mouthfeel, acidity or sweetness? Textures and aromatics in wine add another dimension to your enjoyment, and this masterclass will give the keys to describing them. Jane Anson tastes with Alexandre Schmitt, an ex-perfumer who studied at the Institute of Versailles and now consults to many of the world's greatest wine estates. They taste through leading wines from Napa and Bordeaux, across a number of vintages, to explain the impact that different soils, weather conditions and winemaking philosophies make on the taste and impressions of the wine in the glass. BYOB dinner of older Burgundy with Jasper Morris MW and Libération Tardive Foundation – Tuesday 13th January
£145.00While our 10th anniversary celebrations officially reach their climax in December, we’ve found the perfect excuse to carry them over into January – courtesy of the rather wonderful initiative 10+ Wines (aka the Liberation Tardive Foundation). Libération Tardive is a not-for-profit organisation promoting the appropriate ageing of fine wine, and was co-founded by Club Member Dominic Buckwell. We are delighted that Dominic has teamed up with Burgundy authority and friend of the Club Jasper Morris MW to host a BYOB dinner celebrating vintages of 10 years’ age and beyond. The second week of January has become known in London wine circles as ‘Burgundy Week’, when producers congregate in the capital to showcase the latest vintage en primeur. Against this backdrop of nascent wines, Members and their guests are invited to bring a bottle (or two) of a vintage with ten years or more development, to share and compare with others. The wines may be red, white (or, of course, one of each) either from Burgundy or another region renowned for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and appropriately aged to show their true quality. Jasper will share some thoughts on the wines and vintages, as well as an update on the latest news and releases from the region. To mark the occasion for what we expect to be a popular evening, we will be holding this event in the Members’ Lounge. Come and join us and your fellow Burgundy lovers to banish the January blues in style… The menu; Coquilles St. Jacques Steak tartare with shoestring fries and leafy salad Fourme d’Ambert, spiced pear & walnut Petit Fours Please email [email protected] if you have any requests as regards seating arrangements and for any dietary requirements.Add to cartTuesday 13th January The Members' Lounge 18:30 - Welcome reception 19:00 - Dinner starts 22:30 - Dinner ends

An exclusive invite to participate in the 67 Pall Mall Wine Academy – Wednesday 13th – Friday 15th August
£600.00As you are all aware, 67 Pall Mall is engaged in an exciting global development programme, with Clubs due to open in Bordeaux, Shanghai, Melbourne and more in the near future. This brings into focus the need to develop a talent pipeline, particularly for our sommelier teams, who are fundamental to delivering the outstanding wine experience that defines our Clubs. At the same time, we have been exploring ways to further develop our relationship with the charitable Gérard Basset Foundation, which is committed to facilitating the recruitment of young people from diverse backgrounds into the hospitality trade. All of which has led us to establish the 67 Pall Mall Wine Academy. This new initiative will not only provide opportunities for emerging talent and potential wine professionals, but also for you, our Members, to learn more about wine through our dedicated team of in-house experts. It will also afford Gerard Basset scholars valuable exposure to the world of exceptional service via an intensive programme of learning, tasting and personal development in the world’s most prestigious wine Club. The curriculum has been designed and will be delivered by the Club’s Heads of Wine in Europe and Asia, Kathrine Larsen-Robert MS and Richard Hemming MW, and will also feature selected guest contributors from across the wine world. It will combine structured seminars, hands-on learning, high-level tastings and dinners at top-end restaurants and in the Club, with deep dives into classic regions and styles via benchmark wines from some of the world’s finest producers. The ultimate aim is to educate and inspire through mentorship, knowledge and shared experience. Among the highlights of the programme will be: • A Bordeaux benchmarking tasting, featuring classed growth wines from the last three decades • A Prestige Cuvée Champagne comparative tasting • An ‘Icons of the New World’ tasting • Seminars on service, sustainability and blind-tasting techniques • Two dinners, including a private dinner at Restaurant 1890 by Gordon Ramsay at The Savoy It is important to note that this is not a formal academic course or qualification. Rather, from a Club perspective, the initiative helps us to identify talent for our growing number of Clubs across the world, while also cementing our role at the heart of the industry in nurturing the next generation of wine professionals. From a Member perspective, it is intended to provide committed wine lovers with a greater understanding and exposure to the world of fine wine, through the lens of professionals and mentors. The Academy is ultimately set to be a five-day residential programme, held across our Clubs around the world. In the first instance, however, we are launching the initiative with a small-scale, three-day immersion in London this summer, and we have a handful of places for Members, which we are delighted to offer on an invite-only basis. Venue: 67 Pall Mall and other central London venues Date: Daytime and evening, 13th-15th August (exact timings and schedule to follow) The price covers all wines and meals costs. Exton Park Sea-Aged English Sparkling Wine Tasting
£80.00Join us in the St. James's Room for a tasting which will provide a rare preview of “60 Below” – the first ever sea-aged English sparkling wine, alongside it’s traditionally aged sister wine, “60 Above”. Both wines are 2014 Blanc de Blancs vintages from Exton Park’s single vineyard, with one vital difference. Each have been aged in two different locations spanning 60m below and 60m above sea level, in a first for English winemaking innovation. The Malcolm Isaac Blanc de Blancs 2011, launching with a very limited volume in March 2022, was Corinne’s first wine created for Exton Park and has had 7 years on lees and 2 years under cork. Live from the Vines: Jim Barry Wines
Hosted by Sam Barry & Ronan Sayburn MS A shade over half a century ago, Jim Barry was getting his hands dirty by digging in his first Clare Valley vines. The 50 years since have seen successive members of the Barry clan judiciously build on their patriarch’s endeavours, and today the family name is synonymous with Australian fine wine. Joining Ronan Sayburn MS for this masterclass is Jim’s son, Peter, who discusses the Barry story, including tales such as hauling buckets of water into the vineyards with his brothers during droughts, as well as contemporary challenges such as climate change. Also hear from the third generation, with commercial manager, Sam, and winemaker, Tom, as they reveal the projects and collaborations that keep Jim Barry wines perpetually at the vanguard, and the family’s enduring love affair with Riesling.
