Brewing, Tasting and Appreciating Coffee Masterclass with Amoret Coffee | Thursday 21st October
£40.00With the Winter months making early mornings challenging for even the earliest of risers, join us for a caffeinated masterclass guaranteed to awake the senses. We will begin with an introduction to Arabica coffee, covering its history, the development of brewing culture, and the rise of coffee houses. We look at the invention of espresso and café culture, the rise of speciality, Aussie/Kiwi coffee, and the third wave. Members will then put their palates to a test with a tasting overview, where we taste and identify differences in Arabicas based on geography, varietal, processing, and roasting method. A demonstration of the pourover technique will offer a view of how to brew the perfect filter coffee, before we gain an in-depth understanding of espresso extraction, including what it takes to pull what baristas affectionately know as the ‘God shot’. Finally, Members will learn the fundamentals of latte art pouring, as we learn all there is to know about milk steaming, before a coffee-fuelled Q&A. A buffet breakfast will be included. Festive wreathmaking (with Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque) – Monday 1st December
£115.00As London prepares to shimmer under the glow of Christmas lights, we too are readying our best festive décor for the season. (Once we’ve recovered from tomorrow’s Halloween celebrations, that is…) And to help Members deck their doors in fine style, we’ve invited florist Billy Hillhouse – whose decade of experience and a feel for natural elegance have made her a name to know – to lead an afternoon of wreathmaking in the Club. Billy will guide you through creating your own festive masterpiece, glass or fizz in hand (though maybe not while actually constructing your wreath). Or, indeed glasses. Because Billy will be joined by longstanding Club Member Charlotte Kristensen – wine columnist for YOU Magazine, author of Wine: Taste Pair Pour, and WSET educator – who will co-host the afternoon via a tasting of two cuvées from Perrier-Jouët. Charlotte will talk us through the house’s distinctive Art Nouveau heritage, inspired by the graceful anemone that adorns the Belle Epoque prestige cuvée, which will be among a pair of the brand’s Champagnes served on the day. Join us for a relaxed afternoon – floral, vinous and otherwise – just in time for the festive season. The wines we will be pouring: NV Perrier-Jouët, Blanc de Blancs Perrier-Jouët, Belle Epoque (vintage to be confirmed) Monday 1st December Members’ Lounge 13:00 - Bubbles on arrival 13:30 - Wreathmaking begins 15:45 - Wreathmaking finishes Please note, tickets are refundable for cancellations up to 5 business days before the event. Flavour chemistry: exploring aroma compounds in white wine – Thursday 26th June
£50.00We weren’t quite sure whether the ‘flavour chemistry’ session that we advertised last month would be a little geeky for Members’ tastes – so we were delighted when it swiftly sold out. Now, we are even more delighted to say that host Sietze Wijma has agreed to follow up his session on red wines by presenting an evening dedicated to exploring the flavour compounds of white wines… Hundreds of these compounds have been identified in wine, all of which can be traced back to different grape varieties, winemaking techniques and microorganisms. But what exactly are vanillin and pyrazines, and how do they impact the wine in your glass? Find out at this wine-tasting workshop with Netherlands-based flavour chemistry specialist Sietze Wijma of The Art of Tasting. Sietze has a MSc in Sensory Science and the WSET Diploma (and is also something of a beer expert, holding the Advanced Cicerone®). At this informal but informative session, he will explain the origins of 10 important flavour compounds in white wine, and teach you to recognise them. Members will receive 11 glasses of the same, neutral wine – the first glass is untreated, while the remaining 10 glasses each have an individual flavour compound added. After the origins of these flavours have been explained, you will try to identify each compound through a blind-tasting exercise. This is the perfect event for Members looking to take their tasting ability to the next level – or, indeed, for intermediate to advanced level wine students. St James's Room 18:30 - Welcome reception 19:00 - Masterclass starts 20:30 - Masterclass ends Please note that we now offer a tasting board of charcuterie, cheese, olives and smoked crispy chickpeas to accompany your tasting. Barossa stalwart Elderton with owners Jules and Cameron Ashmead – Wednesday 2nd July
£75.00 – £90.00Price range: £75.00 through £90.00In 1980, when Neil and Lorraine Ashmead bought a homestead in the Barossa Valley, the estate agent threw in the surrounding, derelict vineyard of old Shiraz and Cabernet vines for free. Demand for Barossa Shiraz was pretty negligible back then – their son Cameron’s first job in a winery involved turning red wine into white, so difficult was the former to sell. Two years later, Elderton Wines was born. Within 10 years, the winery had won the coveted Jimmy Watson Trophy, Australia's most prestigious wine award, for the best young red of the year. By the time Cameron and his brother Allister took over in 2003, the Ashmeads had proved themselves integral to the renaissance of the Barossa, and today, Elderton stands as one of the Barossa Valley’s standout family-owned estates. We’re delighted to welcome Cameron and his wife Jules to the Club to host a rare tasting across a selection of Elderton wines, including several older vintages, alongside the latest releases. Among the line-up are three vintages of the ‘Ode to Lorraine’ – named in honour of the founder on her 60th birthday, against her expressed instructions. Today, with Cameron as co-managing director, Jules oversees viticulture and winemaking, somehow managing to combine her role at Elderton with that as the fifth-generation winemaker at Victoria winery Campbells of Rutherglen. We invite you to join her and Cameron for what promises to be a lively and enlightening evening. Tasting Chilean fine-wine trailblazer Clos Apalta – Tuesday 13th May
£75.00 – £90.00Price range: £75.00 through £90.00Select options This product has multiple variants. The options may be chosen on the product page‘Chile – now a fine-wine producer’ was the headline of an article by Jancis Robinson MW earlier this year, marking what she perceived as the final step in the country’s progression from source of ‘cheap and cheerful’ wines to a far more notable status.
If you wanted one wine to chart this evolution, look no further than Clos Apalta. Founded in 1994 by the French family behind the Grand Marnier liqueur, with the help of superstar (and since ever-present) consultant Michel Rolland, the cuvée became the first South American wine to be crowned Wine Spectator’s Wine of the Year back in 2008. A Bordeaux blend made via organic and biodynamic viticulture, the wine today stands as something of a reference point for quality in Chile, showcasing the richness and complexity of the Colchagua terroir on an old-vine, steep hillside site. We are delighted to welcome family owner and CEO Charles de Bournet Marnier Lapostolle to the Club to present three vintages of Clos Apalta as well as a selection of other wines from the estate, including the more recently launched, small-production Clos du Lican. A bold yet elegant Syrah, Clos du Lican’s distinctive freshness represents the next frontier for the property – exploring single-varietal wines with precision and personality and pushing the boundaries of what Chilean wine can achieve on the world stage. We invite you to join us to explore these compelling wines for yourself. The wines we will be tasting: 2012 Domaines Bournet Lapostolle, Clos Apalta Vinotheque, Colchagua Valley, Chile 2015 Domaines Bournet Lapostolle, Clos Apalta Vinotheque, Colchagua Valley, Chile 2021 Domaines Bournet Lapostolle, Clos Apalta, Colchagua Valley, Chile 2018 Domaines Bournet Lapostolle, Petit Clos, Colchagua Valley, Chile 2022 Domaines Bournet Lapostolle, Prelude, Colchagua Valley, Chile 2021 Domaines Bournet Lapostolle, Cote de Madame Viognier, Colchagua Valley, Chile 2020 Domaines Bournet Lapostolle, Clos du Lican Syrah, Colchagua Valley, Chile

The standout wines of Margaret River pioneer Vasse Felix, with winemaker Virginia Willcock – Wednesday 18th September
£75.00 – £90.00Price range: £75.00 through £90.00Vasse Felix represents a piece of Australian wine history. The first commercial winery to plant vines in Margaret River, back in 1967, it is a true pioneer. Still estate grown, made and bottled, its wines today stand as benchmark examples of the region’s strengths – Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. With his counterparts at Cullen and Moss Wood, founder Tom Cullity was one of three doctors to establish Margaret River as a bona fide wine region. A cardiologist who fell in love with wine when working at Britain’s National Heart Hospital in the 1950s, on returning to Western Australia, Cullity set himself a mission to make fine wines in his home state. Toiling away from rudimentary winemaking facilities in a small shed which also served as his sleeping quarters, he triumphed over the local naysayers. Today, Cullity’s original plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec are the source of some of Margaret River’s most acclaimed wines. Vasse Felix has a serious focus on holistic viticulture, soil health and vine longevity, complemented by minimal intervention winemaking and small-batch fermentation with natural yeasts, all intended to showcase the provenance of each wine. At the heart of this approach is its ebullient chief winemaker, Virginia Willcock. We are thrilled to welcome the ever-engaging Virginia to the Club to guide us through a tasting of some of the region's finest Cabernet Sauvignons and Chardonnay, including the renowned Tom Cullity cuvée, a blend of Cabernet and Malbec from the original vines. We will also taste the 50th vintage of the house Cabernet and the celebrated Heytesbury Chardonnay The wines we will be tasting: 2020 Tom Cullity, Vasse Felix, Margaret River 2014 Tom Cullity, Vasse Felix, Margaret River 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, Vasse Felix, Margaret River (50th vintage) 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon, Vasse Felix, Margaret River 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, Vasse Felix, Margaret River 2022 Syrah, Vasse Felix, Margaret River 2022 Sauvignon Blanc, Vasse Felix, Margaret River 2022 Chardonnay, Vasse Felix, Margaret River 2021 Chardonnay, Vasse Felix, Margaret River 2020 Chardonnay, Vasse Felix, Margaret River 2022 Chardonnay, Heytesbury, Vasse Felix, Margaret River 2016 Chardonnay, Heytesbury, Vasse Felix, Margaret River Please note that we now offer a tasting board of charcuterie, cheese, olives and nuts to accompany your tasting. St. Patrick’s Day – Irish Wine Connections with Raymond Blake – Friday 17th March
£125.00In recent years the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, Ireland’s national holiday, has become a worldwide affair, with iconic structures such as the Sydney Opera House and the Eiffel Tower being bathed in green light to celebrate the occasion. No other national holiday attracts such widespread attention as St. Patrick’s – and here at 67 we are certainly not going to be left out. Join our fellow Member and noted wine writer, Raymond Blake, as he takes us on a virtual vinous journey around the globe, fuelled by tale and anecdote, focusing on the people and their stories as much as the wines. Members can expect an informal wine tasting, rather than a structured Masterclass, featuring an eclectic flight of wines, all of which have strong connections back to the ‘Emerald Isle’. Orin Swift Walk-around tasting with Mark Pygott MW – Tuesday 28th February
£65.00We’re delighted to announce that on February 28th, our slice of Pall Mall is to be bathed in Californian sunshine as we welcome Orin Swift to the Club. Orin Swift’s wines are crafted from some of California’s finest parcels of fruit, and its strikingly liveried bottles echo the dynamism of founder, David Swift Phinney, whose passion for wine began when he spent a semester ‘studying’ in Florence in 1995. Three years later, with ‘two tonnes of Zinfandel and not much else’, Orin Swift was born. Hosted by Mark Pygott MW, this promises to be an effervescent yet suitably informal tasting. The Orin Swift range includes Californian staples such as Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon, and these (and more) will be presented to our Members in a St. James’s room transformed by a range of art, video and sound installations.
