Live from the Vines: Fattoria Le Pupille
Hosted by Clara Gentili, Elisabetta Geppetti, Daniele Cernilli & Ettore Rizzi It takes a redoubtable individual to walk away from university at 20 years of age to take control of the family estate. Let us introduce you to Elisabetta Geppetti. Although Le Pupille - situated in Maremma Toscana - has been in the hands of the Geppetti family since the late 19th century, it wasn’t until the 1960s that wine became its core mission. Elisabetta’s arrival in 1985 saw the shackles truly come off, her tour de force nature exemplified by becoming president of the Morellino di Scansano consorzio in 1992, the first women in Italy to hold such a position. Today lauded as one of the Tuscan coast’s most vital estates, each year Fattoria Le Pupille releases a thrilling collection of wines, crystallised here by a masterclass featuring its barrel-fermented Petit Manseng, an unadulterated, emblematic Sangiovese, and Le Pupille’s flagship Bordeaux blend, Saffredi, known in some quarters as the Lafite of Tuscany and which was created in partnership with Giacomo Tachis, he of Sassicaia, Tignanello and Ornellaia. £135.00Read moreCalling all women in wine - and women who know their wine. We’re delighted to be bringing back our ladies-only Paulée-style BYOB dinners in 2026. Across spring and autumn, our female Members can look forward to seasonal menus from Executive Chef Dan Page, thoughtfully composed to flatter the bottles you place at the centre of the table. Explore the Koshu wines of Japan – Wednesday 4th February (Non-Member)
£70.00 – £85.00Price range: £70.00 through £85.00The first record of Japanese winemaking dates back to 1874, in Yamanashi Prefecture. Here, north of Mt Fuji on the main island, Koshu is king – Japan’s most important indigenous grape variety and now an increasingly in-vogue style across the world. Wines made from Koshu cover a broad stylistic spectrum, from refined fizz to elegant, mineral-driven whites and nuanced renderings with gentle skin contact, while the delicate pink hue of its berries echo the shades of the country’s signature cherry blossom. We are delighted to welcome seasoned sommelier Raku Oda, who specialises in the wines of his native Japan, to introduce Koshu’s stylistic diversity through a focused, engaging masterclass exploring multiple expressions. Raku’s 20-year sommelier career across Tokyo and London has most recently involved a five-year stint on the sommelier team at the three-Michelin-starred Fat Duck. Whether you are new to Koshu or keen to benchmark leading producers, this tasting offers a concise tour of the terroirs of Yamanashi – today Japan’s most important wine region – and the nuanced, food-friendly profiles that make Koshu so compelling. Rhône legend Château Rayas going back to 1998 – Tuesday 18th November (nm)
£995.00 – £1,010.00Price range: £995.00 through £1,010.00As we continue the build-up to our 10th anniversary celebrations, the headline events keep on coming… Few names in the Rhône Valley are wrapped in as much mystique and intrigue as Château Rayas. Undoubtedly the most acclaimed name in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, its wines have transcended the appellation to become fiercely collected, dizzyingly pricey and widely revered for their pure, silken expressions of Grenache. Yet behind them is a rather ramshackle provenance. The Rayas cellar was described by Jancis Robinson MW as the least salubrious she has ever visited. ‘I’ve never seen such grey, ancient, cobwebby casks ranged apparently at random in the dusty, earth-floored winery,’ she wrote of a rare visit to the property. And yet… ‘The most extraordinary of many extraordinary aspects of Rayas is how pure the wines are compared to the conditions in which they are made and aged. Rich and ethereal, transparent and floral, utterly hedonistic but without heft…’ she says. There is little doubt that Rayas is, to put it mildly, unorthodox. North-facing vines on soil featuring none of Châteauneuf’s famous ‘galets roulés’; ridiculously low yields of around 15hl/ha; whole-bunch ferments in concrete tanks; and aged in rarely seen 450-litre ‘double-piéce’ and larger oak foudres. Both the grand vin and the second wine, Pignan, are 100% Grenache while the wines of a separate estate, Château de Fonsalette, include two red Côtes du Rhônes: a Grenache-Syrah-Cinsault blend and an ultra-rare single-vineyard Syrah. We have managed to assemble a stunning line-up of all four wines across three vintages – 1998, 1999 and 2000. To present them, someone who knows the wines as well as anyone – Rhône expert Matt Walls, contributing editor and Rhône Regional Chair for Decanter and the author of two books on the Rhône: Wines of the Rhône (2021) and The Smart Travellers Wine Guide to the Rhône Valley (2025). ‘Just how does Emmanuel Reynaud create wines that are so strong in character, so identifiable by their perfume alone? So delicate but so long-lived?’ asks Matt. ‘Only he knows. But having visited Rayas every year since 2012, I've gleaned various points on how he works. I still can’t fully explain the miracle of his wines, but I'll share what I know about the myth and legend that surround Rayas.’ It should make for an unforgettable evening. The wines we will be tasting: 1998 Côtes du Rhone, Château de Fonsalette 1999 Côtes du Rhone, Château de Fonsalette 2000 Côtes du Rhone, Château de Fonsalette 1998 Côtes du Rhone, Cuvée Syrah, Château de Fonsalette 1999 Côtes du Rhone, Cuvée Syrah, Château de Fonsalette 2000 Côtes du Rhone, Cuvée Syrah, Château de Fonsalette 1998 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Pignan Reserve, Château Rayas 1999 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Pignan Reserve, Château Rayas 2000 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Pignan Reserve, Château Rayas 1998 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château Rayas 1999 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château Rayas 2000 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château Rayas Tuesday 18th November St James’s Room 18:30 – Welcome reception 19:00 – Masterclass begins 20:30 - Masterclass endsSelect options This product has multiple variants. Six-wine dinner with Bordeaux second growth Château Montrose – Tuesday 25th November (PL)
£245.00If any Bordeaux château has been making waves over the last 15 years, it is surely Château Montrose. The St-Estèphe second growth, set on a gravelly knoll close to the Gironde estuary, was always renowned for producing some of the longest-lived wines in the Médoc. But under the ownership of the Bouygues family, it has reached new heights, now acclaimed for crafting wines of charm and elegance as well as structure and power.Read moreFounded in 1815 and achieving 2ème Cru Classé status in the 1855 classification, Montrose joined the extensive business portfolio of Martin and Olivier Bouygues in 2006. Since then, a committed new duo has been leading the estates: Charlotte Bouygues, President of the Eutopia Estates group, and Pierre Graffeuille, Managing Director. Together, they are implementing an ambitious winegrowing approach aimed at producing terroir-driven wines with a commitment to sustainable excellence.
Today, with the refinements complete and a fresh, young team in place, Montrose is firing on all cylinders, and fully living up to its vaunted status. We are delighted, then, to welcome Romain Bellone, Deputy Commercial Director, to the Club to talk us through the next stage of the evolution over a three-course, six-wine paired dinner, with wines going back to the landmark vintage of 2000.

Discovering the wines of Jura – Tuesday 30th September (Non-Member)
£95.00 – £130.00Price range: £95.00 through £130.00Nestled on verdant hills and valleys an hour east of Burgundy towards the Swiss border, the Jura is arguably France’s most idiosyncratic wine region. The wines, which have risen to prominence to become hugely popular over the last 15 years, span a dizzying array of styles, making them an intriguing proposition for adventurous wine lovers – albeit one that requires some guidance. That’s where author Wink Lorch comes in. Wink has been visiting the Jura for 25 years, and we are delighted to welcome her to the Club to share her inside view on what makes this tiny region so special, as we taste 10 standout wines from a range of characterful producers. The wines will span all styles, from the traditional oxidative ‘vin jaune’, aged under a veil of yeast, to the more contemporary ‘ouillé’ style that accentuates bright fruit and floral flavours. Sparkling and red wines will also be covered. Wink spent much of last year in the region, visiting producers to gauge how they are balancing a string of challenging vintages with surging demand for the wines. Her new book, Jura Wine Ten Years On, is the result of her travels, and a companion volume to her much-acclaimed Jura Wine, published in 2014. Both will be available to purchase on the night. We invite you to join us for what should be a fascinating evening. Those discovering Jura for the first time will discover a whole new world of interest, while Jura afficionados will find plenty of new nuggets of interest both in the chosen wines and through Wink’s insider stories.Select options This product has multiple variants. Loire Valley Chenin Blanc with Pascaline Lepeltier MS – Friday 11th July
£95.00 – £110.00Price range: £95.00 through £110.00In recent years, new interpretations in a bone-dry style have led Loire Valley Chenin Blanc to reclaim its place in the pantheon of world-class wines. An evolution started by the likes of Nicolas Joly, Mark Angeli and François Chidaine has been continued by a dynamic cohort of young producers. Today, the region is bursting with talents, and the quality and diversity of dry Chenin has never been higher. Join star sommelier and author Pascaline Lepeltier MS on a relaxed Friday evening to discover some of the region’s most exciting names, and taste for yourself how the finest terroir-driven, ageworthy examples are rivalling the world’s best Chardonnays and Rieslings. Lepeltier has become one of the hottest names in the wine world, as seen in her being named Decanter magazine’s Rising Star last year. After growing up in the Loire Valley and working in Michelin-starred restaurants in France, she moved to New York City in 2009, where she has run numerous award-winning wine lists. Currently overseeing the acclaimed Chambers restaurant, she came 4th in the 2023 Best Sommelier in the World Competition and 2nd in the 2024 Best European, Middle East & Africa version. Her recent book Mille Vignes (One Thousand Vines) was published in 2022 to huge international acclaim, in the process ‘making the reader question the ethos of wine, and what wine should and can represent,’ according to fellow writer Andrew Jefford. ‘Pascaline has given us the breadth of her remarkable knowledge, in a hugely enjoyable, exciting and original book – a real achievement from an outstanding member of the global wine community.’ This promises to be an enlightening evening with an exceptional talent – and some equally standout wines. This intimate evening will offer a guided tasting of Henri Giraud’s signature cuvées, including: 2022 Domaine aux Moines, Savennières Roche-aux-Moines, Anjou-Saumur 2021 La Grande Pièce, Château de Plaisance, Anjou 2021 Chenin Centenaire, Grange Saint-Sauveur, Savennières - Roche aux Moines 2022 Constellation du Scorpion, Vincent Gaudry, Sancerre 2022 Frênésie, Domaine Helicon, Vin de France 2023 Le Jeau Blanc, Julien Delrieu, Vin de France 2021 Les Enfers Tranquilles , Michel Autran, Vin de France 2022 Le Gory, Château Yvonne, Saumur Blanc Friday 11th July St James’s Room 18:30 - Welcome Drink 19:00 - Masterclass starts 20:30 - Masterclass endsSelect options This product has multiple variants.
