Jasper on Terroir: Chassagne-Montrachet under the microscope
Hosted by Jasper Morris MW & Thierry Pillot Are you a Puligny person or a Meursault fan? Hang on, what about Chassagne? The appellation is sometimes criticised because there is too much red wine territory which has been set to producing chardonnay, but the best parts of the village can make magical wines. Jasper has chosen six of the finest producers of the village covering terroirs that compete with the best. Will vineyard or vigneron win out? Domaine Ramonet, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, Boudriotte 2017 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, Les Vergers 2018 Thomas Morey, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, Vide Bourse 2017 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, Les Caillerets 2017 Domaine Lamy-Caillat, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, Les Champs Gain 2017 Domaine Paul Pillot, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, La Romanée 2016Read more -

Live from the Vines: Domaine Henri & Gilles Buisson
Hosted by Jasper Morris MW, Franck Buisson & Frédérick Buisson The Buissons have been part of Burgundy’s vinegrowing fabric for over 250 years, and mainstays of Saint-Romain since it achieved appellation status just after the Second World War. At the helm today are brothers Franck and Frédérick, who navigate according to biodynamic theory, which is of no surprise considering that their father, Henri, worked the land organically as far back as the 1960s. Hear more about what drives the siblings to pursue and persist with the biodynamic philosophy, the family’s heritage, its individual parcels of Saint-Romain vineyards, as well as its holdings in those corners of Burgundy considered vineyard nobility: Corton and Corton Charlemagne. Live from the Vines: Domaine Ponsot
Hosted by Alexandre Abel & Jasper Morris MW Integrity courses through Ponsot, be that in its approach in the vineyard, or the relationship it enjoys with its many adorers. Regards the former, the Ponsot practice more than dips into both organic and biodynamic viticulture (although Ponsot eschews these tags). As to the latter, if it feels the wines are not up to scratch then Ponsot will reduce the price, as was the case for virtually the entire 1994 vintage. Alternatively, as Ponsot says, ‘we send it to the distillery, as we did for the Morey Clos des Monts Luisants 1993 and 2012.’ Master of Wine Jasper Morris visits this beacon of Burgundy, discussing Ponsot’s at-times controversial ethos with its chief winemaker Alexandre Abel and the family’s fifth-generation winegrower William Ponsot. It is an engrossing insight into the inner workings of an unflinchingly exacting property, culminating in a spectacular, multi-vintage tasting of its sublime Cuvée Vieilles Vignes, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru, which is also available to our digital members as a tasting kit. In all its forms, whether dry, sweet, or fortified sweet, Muscat is pungently aromatic and distinct.
