Strength in numbers – the 8th edition, World Atlas of Wine

Wine lovers among us will undoubtedly have seen that Jancis Robinson MW and Hugh Johnson OBE have bought us up to speed on the world of wine with their eighth edition of this landmark wine book.

Once a month, we host a ladies’ breakfast in the Clubroom where we welcome fascinating women to the Club for great food among great company – it wasn’t a difficult choice when deciding on the final breakfast of 2019.  Jancis Robinson MW has been described as the most respected wine critic and journalist in the world, and Members of the Club were invited to learn more about this revised edition, along with asking any burning bottle-related questions.

A popular theme among the discussions was the topical subject of sustainability. Wine drinkers are more conscious than ever on how to be mindful consumers, and it was interesting to learn about the vast changes happening in the vines. Another was, naturally, picking Jancis’ brains on the changes and developments in the wine world since the 7th edition, as well as predictions for the 9th. Reflecting on over 6 years of wine developments, these topics could have moved very smoothly from breakfast through to dinner, had time allowed…
