The Montrachet of Spain – Sorte O’Soro

Andres, one of our Spanish sommeliers, was fortunate enough to open a fantastic bottle in the Club this week – the silly season is certainly upon us…

Sorte o soro’s star winemaker Rafael Palacios produces some of the most complex white wines from Spain. His tiny vineyard of 0.47 hectares is located in Valdeorras, Galicia where old vines of Godello are planted on sandy granite soils at relatively high altitude.

The vineyard is farmed biodynamically, with all the work on the vines done solely by hand using only natural yeast. The wine is then fermented in 500L French oak barrels. From Burgundian inspiration, Sorte O’Soro is one of the most exciting white wine from Spain.
