TWO MINUTES WITH | Priscilla Incisa della Rocchetta, Tenuta San Guido
13 November 2025
Tenuta San Guido is the home of the original ‘SuperTuscan’, Sassicaia, a wine conceived by Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, who was the first to plant Bordeaux varieties on the Tuscan coast. The wine has been among the world’s most reputed almost ever since its initial release in 1968, and today the Marchese’s granddaughter Priscilla Incisa della Rochetta is the face of the Bolgheri estate
What is your ‘last supper’ wine?
A bottle that feels like home. Ideally, a Sassicaia from a vintage that carries a family memory, opened and shared with those who lived this story before me. But if I need to choose a different wine, maybe it would be a Chardonnay from Bodega Chacra, the project of my cousin Piero Incisa and the Burgundian winemaker Jean-Marc Roulot. Every now and then, I am lucky enough to receive a bottle as a gift, and it always feels special.
Where is your dream vineyard?
I imagine a ridge overlooking the ocean, with pale stony soils and a constant breeze. Places like Oregon or the Loire Valley come to mind – regions where freshness, balance and biodiversity come together in a way that inspires me deeply.
Who is your wine hero?
Rather than naming a single individual, I think of those who believe in viticulture as a responsibility towards a place. In my own family estate, this spirit has been carried forward by many hands: the agronomists, the cellar workers, those who take care of the vineyards every day and make quiet but decisive choices. These are the true custodians of the landscape, and they are the ones I look up to.

What’s the next big thing in wine?
For us it is not really a ‘next big thing’, because it has been part of our vision for a long time, but I believe the future of wine lies in biodiversity – in producing wines that protect and enrich the ecosystems around them. Wine can become a lever to care for a territory, not to exploit it. My family embraced this approach many years ago with the creation of the Bolgheri wildlife refuge, which today still reminds us that viticulture can safeguard the land while producing wines that are faithful to their place.
What is your favourite wine memory?
A vertical tasting in Rome in 2016 with Carlo Paoli, head of winemaking at Tenuta San Guido, when we tasted every vintage of Sassicaia produced from 1968 to 2013, some of which I had never tried before. It was an extraordinary journey through time, each glass telling its own story and together forming the mosaic of an identity that I feel fortunate to help preserve.
Priscilla Incisa della Rochetta will present a 20-vintage tasting of Sassicaia back to 1975 at the London Club later this month
