The History of Bordeaux in Six Wines, by Jane Anson – Thursday 23rd January
As we continue to shape the genesis of 67 Pall Mall in Bordeaux, we are thrilled to kickstart our events programme in the city with what promises to be a hugely engaging occasion.
Throughout the year, we will be holding a series of tastings and gatherings across various venues to provide a foretaste of what members can expect from the Club once we open our doors in 2026. And we can think of no better way to begin than with an intimate event hosted by our good friend and leading Bordeaux authority Jane Anson.
Based in the city since 2003, Jane will be well known to Bordeaux Members through her long-standing residency as Bordeaux correspondent for Decanter magazine, and now through her own market-leading site, Inside Bordeaux. An active supporter of the Club ever since our London opening a decade ago, Jane has hosted a number of tastings at our flagship venue over the years.
For this inaugural event, Jane host a fascinating masterclass that tells the history of Bordeaux from the Roman Empire through to today, punctuated by a selection of wines which each reveal a unique historical link.
The wines that will be served:
2015 Château La Gaffelière, Premier Grand Cru Classé B, Saint-Emilion
2015 Château d’Issan, 3ème Cru Classé, Margaux
