Discovering Bolgheri: Thursday 13th May – Sunday 16th May, 2027
Join us for a three-day exploration of Bolgheri, one of Italy’s most celebrated wine regions and the birthplace of the SuperTuscan movement. Set along Tuscany’s Mediterranean coast, this three-night journey combines visits to some of the region’s standout estates with exceptional dining, cultural discoveries and time to experience the landscape beyond the vineyards.
Throughout the journey, Members will visit legendary estates including Ornellaia and Tenuta San Guido, alongside Guado al Tasso, Tua Rita and Argentiera. The programme also ventures beyond wine, with trips to the medieval village of Suvereto and the ancient Etruscan site of Baratti and Populonia.
The journey is hosted by wine expert guide Filippo Magnani and a 67 Pall Mall representative throughout.
ACCOMMODATION
Our retreat will be Poggio ai Santi Relais, a secluded country retreat overlooking the Mediterranean. Surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and gardens, it provides an idyllic base from which to explore the vineyards, villages and coastline of southern Tuscany.
ITINERARY
Day 1 – Thursday 13th May 2027 | Pisa to Bolgheri
– Meet your guide, Filippo Magnani, at Pisa Airport before setting off by private bus towards Bolgheri, following the Tuscan coast south into one of Italy’s most celebrated wine regions.
– We begin with a visit at Ornellaia Estate exploring the vineyards and cellars, including the barrique cellar where the estate’s wines mature in French oak, before sitting down to lunch at the estate.
– We will then check in for three nights at Poggio ai Santi Relais, before ending the first day with dinner at the Relais. Traditional Tuscan cooking will be paired with a selection of wines from two of Bolgheri’s notable producers, offering a fitting introduction to the region’s food and wine.
Day 2 – Friday 14th May 2027 | Bolgheri & Suvereto
– We set off towards Bolgheri, travelling along the region’s famous cypress-lined road towards Tenuta San Guido, the historic home of Sassicaia and one of the estates that transformed the reputation of the region, where we will enjoy a private visit and tasting.
– We continue to Antinori’s Guado al Tasso Estate for a private visit and lunch before we return to Poggio ai Santi Relais for a leisurely afternoon.
– Late in the afternoon, we’ll visit the medieval village of Suvereto, whose narrow streets and historic stone buildings sit among the wooded hills overlooking the Etruscan Coast.
– Members will then visit Tua Rita for a private visit and dinner. Founded by Rita and Virgilio in 1984, Tua Rita has become one of Tuscany’s most respected modern estates, making it a fitting final stop of the day.
Day 3 – Saturday 15th May 2027 | Baratti, Populonia & the Tuscan Coast
– On the third day, we’ll set off to the archaeological park located in Baratti Bay and Populonia. Set against the slopes of the Piombino promontory, the open-air museum offers a glimpse into the Etruscan civilisation that shaped this stretch of the Tuscan coast.
– Members will then visit Tenuta Argentiera. Set among vineyards overlooking the Mediterranean, we will enjoy a private visit and lunch, discovering the estate’s celebrated SuperTuscan wines in the landscape where they are produced.
– We will return to Poggio ai Santi Relais for a relaxed afternoon at leisure, with time to enjoy the gardens, surrounding countryside and views towards the sea.
– The trip culminates with a farewell dinner prepared by a Michelin-starred chef.
Day 4 – Sunday 16th May 2027 | Bolgheri to Pisa
– Check out from Poggio ai Santi Relais and depart by private bus for Pisa Airport.
– Arrive at Pisa Airport, marking the conclusion of the Bolgheri journey.

Meet our host
Filippo Magnani is a wine tourism pioneer and seasoned wine expert. After earning a degree in Hotel and Tourism Management in Florence and an MBA in Hospitality Management in the UK, in 1999 Filippo launched Fufluns, a bespoke travel boutique specialising in wine tours across Tuscany and Italy. A WSET Diploma holder since 2006, he is a noted wine writer and contributor to publications including Decanter and Wine Tourism, a member of the Circle of Wine Writers, and shares his passion for wine further through his blog, Tales Behind the Wine.
