Querciabella…the “beautiful oak”

Giuseppe Castiglioni founded Querciabella in 1974 near Greve, within the Chianti Classico area in Tuscany. The name Querciabella means “beautiful oak”, as the estate is dotted with trees.

Today, Giuseppe’s son Stefano is running the estate. The vineyard was converted to organic viticulture in 1988 and to biodynamic in 2000.

The flagship red, Camartina, is considered to be one of the best super Tuscans produced – the blend of Cabernet-Sauvignon and Sangiovese planted on Galestro (pebbles in Chianti) are producing unparalleled results.

The white expression ‘Batar’ is an amazing wine based on half Chardonnay and half Pinot Bianco. This wine is one of the most stunning white wines from Italy, and the 2016 has recently been given the highest score for an Italian white wine by Antonio Galloni.

Our sommeliers had the chance to welcome Manfred Ing, winemaker at Querciabella of 10 years, who went through back vintages of both wines with our sommelier team.
