It is no exaggeration to say that the estate of Feudi di San Gregorio has been the biggest driver in the renaissance of Southern Italy’s vinous reputation over the last two decades.
This is an estate that is rooted in its local heritage – it was founded in 1986, in the aftermath of a damaging earthquake, as a way of helping to rebuild and invest in the region’s local identity. Since then, Feudi di San Gregorio has dedicated itself to rediscovering, protecting and championing indigenous local varietals, notably Falanghina, Greco di Tufo, Fiano and Aglianico.
The winery has gone to great lengths to study and research the terroir of Irpinia, on the highest volcanic hills of Campania. Just a few kilometres from Naples, the region plays host to some of Europe’s few remaining pre-phyloxera vines, some of which are over 150-years-old.
Today, the estate spans over 300 hectares of vineyards, split into over 800 plots which offer variety in altitude, exposure and topography and are vinified separately to produce expressive wines bursting with their own distinctive character.
Join our host, owner and winemaker Antonio Capaldo, who will guide us through Feudi’s astonishing story and its pioneering approach, as we taste through two decades of this Southern Italian star.
