The ‘Irish’ Châteaux of Bordeaux with Raymond Blake | Friday 19th November 2021
Join Club Friend, Member, and leading Irish wine writer Raymond Blake for a relaxed introduction to the ‘Irish’ châteaux of Bordeaux.
For centuries, Irish ex-pats and their descendants have had a significant influence in Bordeaux and Irish names abound there: Barton, Clarke, Dillon, Johnston, Kirwan, Lawton, Lynch, MacCarthy, Phelan, Quinn and others.
The Irish achieved success both as château owners and négociants and the connection is not just historical, being given fresh emphasis when Lochlann and Brenda Quinn purchased Château de Fieuzal in 2001.
During this presentation Raymond will lead us through an entertaining and informal wine tasting, rather than a structured masterclass, focusing on the people and the place, as well as the historical context and human stories behind the wines.
Wines which will be tasted:
Château de Fieuzal blanc 2018
Château Lynch-Bages, Blanc de Lynch-Bages 2015
Château de Fieuzal 2012
