Taste seven grands crus with Burgundy trailblazer Laurent Ponsot – Thursday 10th September

We are thrilled to be joined by Laurent Ponsot, one of the region’s most progressive, outspoken and thought-provoking winemakers, for a deep dive into grand-cru Burgundy.

For years, Laurent Ponsot was the winemaking force behind Domaine Ponsot, the storied Morey-St-Denis domaine, where a startling 80% of production came from grand-cru vineyards. It was there that he launched his crusade against fake wines, which concluded with the conviction of notorious counterfeiter Rudy Kurniawan, and which continues to inform his approach today via an unswerving commitment to provenance, traceability and advanced labelling technology.

In 2017, he shocked the wine world by quitting his family domaine to start up his own haute-couture negociant business, making wines from both his own vines and those of carefully selected growers access some of Burgundy’s most prestigious terroirs. The result is a wide range spanning all levels, from generic and village wines right up to premier and grand cru, across a host of appellations.

The wines are made with minimalist winemaking techniques, enhancing precision while avoiding tradition for tradition’s sake, and yielding a contemporary expression of Burgundy: transparent, exacting, pure and uncompromising.

During what promises to be a fascinating evening, Laurent will take us through a range of ten different wines including seven grands crus. To learn more about the man himself, see our exclusive interview with him here.
