Mastering Meursault with Charles Curtis MW – Tuesday 7th May

For many lovers of white Burgundy, Meursault holds a special place in their heart. Its rich, honeyed, nutty style yields wines with generous weight and texture, while the best also manage to harness a zesty, nervy quality that balances their inherent opulence.

We are more than a little excited, then, to present an evening dedicated solely to the appellation and hosted by Charles Curtis MW. Charles has cherry-picked ten top wines from the appellation (along with a bonus, lesser-spotted red) that he has consistently rated highly in his reports, across a range of vintages.

New York-based Charles became a Master of Wine in 2004 and is the former head of wine for Christie’s auction house in both the Americas and Asia. The author of The Original Grands Crus of Burgundy, he is now Decanter magazine’s Burgundy correspondent. We are delighted to welcome him for his second appearance at the Club, following his sell-out overview of Nuits-St-Georges in January.

‘Many people know – or think they know – the wine of Meursault,’ says Charles. ‘But after tasting more than 100 wines and visiting 18 Meursault producers last year, I am more convinced than ever that there are many, many versions of Meursault – and it pays to discover them all.’  We invite you to do so under Charles’ expert eye.
