Live From the Vines: Urla Winery

Established in 2006 by Can Ortabaș, Urla Winery – on Turkey’s Aegean coast – is something of a young buck, yet its inspiration and true genesis stretches back over 3,000 years, to a time which saw the planting on his property the ruined, terraced vineyards that Ortabaș chanced upon in 2000.
Today, Urla Winery is one of the Aegean’s most dynamic producers: forever forward thinking, while at the same time drawing on its homeland’s winemaking heritage, even reviving its ancient varietals.
Hosted by Master of Wine Demetri Walters alongside Can Ortabaș, this tasting is a rare opportunity to delve into the distinctive, characterful wines crafted by a winery which represents part of a new wave of Mediterranean ambition.
