Live From the Vines: Hirsch Vineyards
Hosted by Jasmine Hirsch & Elaine Brown
When David Hirsch purchased a sheep ranch in 1978 on the Sonoma Coast, he was not sure what to do with the 1000 acres he had just acquired, in a remote location close to the ocean, surrounded by red wood trees.
By 1980, the first vines were grown and the fruit sold, but no wine was to be produced until the early 90’s, when he was approached by wine makers of some renown seeking cooler vineyards closer to the coast. By 2000 David had caught the vinous bug, transforming into a fully dynamic winery producing 6000-8000 cases of wine a year. Wander amongst the vines with us in an episode where we learn more about this extraordinary story with Jasmine Hirsch and Elaine Brown.
