Barolo evokes a sense of place like no other. Each individual terroir has recognisable characteristics, from the silky tannins of La Morra to the structural finesse of Serralunga. The best way to explore the paradigmatic expressions of the Nebbiolo grape is through a horizontal tasting of historical Barolo estates from a single vintage, which is what Eric Sabourin, managing director of fine and rare Italian wine specialist Falcon Vintners, and Head Sommelier Federico Moccia will be presenting to our Members.
Explore the winemaking styles across this famed region via six expressions of 2013 Barolo from the most sought-after producers in Falcon’s repository. Eric and Federico will also expand on the nuances of the vintage, so you can appreciate the region and grape through a new lens.
Eric has nearly three decades of experience in the wine trade, starting with French wine merchants Nicolas in 1994. Until 2004 he was also a principal of the Connoisseur Wine School before deciding to focus on Falcon following his management buy-out in September 2004. The Sabourins also spent a year in Hong Kong in 2014 to develop Falcon’s Asian markets and experience life in the Far East.
