Founded in 1832 by Vincenzo Florio, the Florio estate has been producing top class Marsala wines for almost two centuries. In its historic cellars some 5 million litres of Marsala, each vintage in its individual cask is aged until it is considered ready to be bottled and released, which in some cases can take up half a century.
On Wednesday 19th April 2023 Roberto Magnisi, Florio’s General Director with Walter Speller, Editor Italy at JancisRobinson.com will launch Florio’s stunning new range of Marsalas, mapping the terroir of its monumental cellar shown for the first time at a sneak preview with only limited places.
The exact location of each cask, measured in metres from the seashore defines its unique style and characteristics, while the Angel’s Share, the amount of Marsala lost to evaporation from the cask as the wines ages measured in percentage. Only the most distinct casks are selected and bottled for the Marsala New Geography Range.
