It has been some time since we have been able to arrange a trip for Members, and we are delighted to announce the first of many.
We begin with a winery visit closer to home for now, though our plans for vinous travel reach far and wide…
Members are invited to join Gusbourne Head Winemaker Charlie Holland and Master Sommelier Laura Rhys for a behind the scenes look at one of England’s most prestigious wine producers.
Since 2004, when the first vines were planted at Gusbourne Estate in Appledore, Kent, they had a clear vision and a single goal: to create vintage English Sparkling Wines that would stand up alongside the very finest offerings from across the globe. They’ve had their sights set on perfection ever since.
Just an hour from London, their 150 acre estate is nestled in the beautiful Kent countryside. Here, you will join Laura for an exclusive tour of Gusbourne’s vineyards whilst sampling a selection of their finest sparkling wines, served with canapés.
Enjoy the special opportunity to taste wine from tank and barrel with Charlie and to understand their uncompromising quest for perfection and a fastidious approach to detail in their winemaking practices.
Your day will conclude with a Blanc de Blancs vertical tasting, served with a seasonal three-course lunch with wine pairings.
Members will be treated to wine and canapés on arrival, and in the vineyard with a Gusbourne Ambassador. They will also enjoy a winery tour with Head Winemaker and CEO Charlie Holland as well as a tank/barrel tasting in the winery. Over lunch you will be able to enjoy older vintages released from library stock at the winery.

Friday 27th May
11:00 – Arrival at Gusbourne
11:00 – Welcome drink, Brut Reserve, served in Garden Room
11:30 – Vineyard tour commences, with a Rosé tasting, hosted by Laura Rhys MS and served alongside canapés the Boot Hill Garden, a short 15 minute walk from the Nest
12:45 – Winery tour commences with a special opportunity to taste wine from barrel and tank, hosted by their Chief Winemaker, Charlie Holland
13:30 – Tutored tasting of two vintage of our Blanc de Blancs with accompanying breads, hosted by Laura Rhys MS in our Garden Room
14.00 – Three-course lunch is served, with each course matched with their wines
15:30 – Teas, Coffees and closing remarks from their host, Laura Rhys MS
16:00 – Guests depart
Tickets are priced at £200 per person if you would prefer to arrange your own travel.
Tickets are priced at £250 per person if you wish to go by coach. The coach will leave 67 Pall Mall at 08.30 and return at approximately 18:00.
