Amid the fast-paced evolution of English wine in recent years, one name has stood resolutely at the top of the tree. Since its first vines were planted in 1988, and its first vintage was made in 1992, Nyetimber has set the benchmark for English fizz.
The West Sussex-based producer was the pioneer of harnessing the classic Champagne varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, and also led the way in releasing a prestige cuvée, a single-vineyard wine and a demi-sec, all while focusing solely on sparkling wine.
The estate’s story stretches back to the first mention of ‘Nitimbreha’ in the Domesday Book of 1086 (the year which now provides the name of the estate’s prestige cuvée). Today its vineyards are spread across 11 sites on south-facing slopes and chalk-rich soils covering 425 hectares in Sussex, Hampshire and Kent.
We are delighted to welcome Nyetimber’s head viticulturalist Ben Kanstler and his colleague Charlie Lowe for a very special dinner designed to showcase the ageing potential of the wines. Guests will enjoy a line-up of library vintages dating back to 2003, paired with a bespoke five-course menu based around British produce and dishes.
We invite you to join us for this rather special occasion.
