Deep Dive Bordeaux: The Perfume of Wine
Hosted by Jane Anson, Alexandre Schmitt & Michael Silacci
What does it mean when you say a wine has blue, red or black fruits? What difference does it make to mouthfeel, acidity or sweetness? Textures and aromatics in wine add another dimension to your enjoyment, and this masterclass will give the keys to describing them. Jane Anson tastes with Alexandre Schmitt, an ex-perfumer who studied at the Institute of Versailles and now consults to many of the world’s greatest wine estates. They taste through leading wines from Napa and Bordeaux, across a number of vintages, to explain the impact that different soils, weather conditions and winemaking philosophies make on the taste and impressions of the wine in the glass.
