Deep Dive Bordeaux: Saint-Julien
Hosted by Jane Anson
Continuing her exploration of Bordeaux’s headline appellations, we find Jane Anson, author of Inside Bordeaux, among the vines of Saint-Julien.
This may be the smallest of the Médoc’s heavy-hitting communes, but it’s one which punches above its weight, with more than three quarters of its vineyards being classed-growth terroir.
Through the lens of the legendary 2010 vintage, Anson reflects on the history, soil, location and most celebrated names of Saint-Julien, concluding with her selection of vintage standouts which are available as a tasting kit to digital members.
The wines that we will taste:
Château Gloria, Saint Julien, 2010
Château Lagrange, Saint-Julien 2010
Château Talbot, Quatrième Grand Cru Classe, Saint-Julien 2010
Château Beychevelle, Quatrième Grand Cru Classe, Saint-Julien 2010
Château Langoa-Barton, Troisième Grand Cru Classe, Saint-Julien 2010
Château Leoville Poyferre, Saint-Julien 2010
