Burgundy Life Beyond the label with Raymond Blake | Wednesday 28th July

Join our friend, Member and part-time Burgundy resident Raymond Blake for a relaxed introduction to Burgundy’s Côte d’Or – the world’s most fabled wine region.

Members can expect an informal wine tasting, focusing on the people and the place as much as the wine in your glass. Illustrated with his own photographs and presented by way of tale and anecdote, Raymond’s presentation will both entertain and inform. Raymond has written two books about Burgundy, and this lively event aims to bring these to life. His third wine book – ‘Wine Talk’ – is currently with the publishers in New York and is due to be published early next year.

Expect to learn about the harvest, market shopping, the annual Saint Vincent Tournante, the Hospices de Beaune, winemakers, visiting barrel makers and, inevitably, the challenges of buying and renovating a house in the region – about which Raymond wrote an article for The World of Fine Wine, issue No 67.
