We welcome friend of the Club and champion of old vines, Sarah Abbott MW, back to the St. James’s Room on Tuesday 14th April for an exceptional tasting of Villa Bogdano wines.
During the evening Members will be transported, glass in hand, to an estate boasting historic vineyards, situated between Veneto and Friuli, nestled betwixt mountains and sea.
At the crossroads of empires, peoples and memories, Villa Bogdano is steeped in centuries of history. Located in Lison di Portoruaro near Venice, the Alps and the Adriatic coast, Villa Bogdano is home to historic vineyards: among these, 117 vines of rare Tocai Friulano, dating back to the end of the 19th century.
These vines were the subject of a meticulous recovery operation and are still in production, utilising a very rare example of an ancient training system called “Cassone Padovano”, developed by Benedictine monks.
Join us as we taste the perfect marriage of state-of-the-art modern winemaking techniques and historical heritage, guided by our expert host.
