Wine and Whiskey Tasting

Fortified wine casks have been used in the whisky industry for years.

Whiskey Drams 29th Jan

Macallan is renowned worldwide for their excellence in hand-picking sherry seasoned oak casks from Jerez, and the whisky industry as a whole has embraced the use of wine, port and many variations of fortified wine to mature and finish whisky. Why is that? What effect does wine have on whisky? And are the wine notes still present?

We invite Members and their guests to find out the answers at an evening of ‘Wine & Whisky From Around The World’ in association with Whisky Drams.

We’ll start the evening by tasting a few sommelier selected glasses, before sampling whiskies from around the world that have been finished in the same casks as the chosen wines.

A ‘World’s Best’ Whiskey & a Japanese Whisky will be part of this journey. When we conclude the evening, you’ll gain a greater understanding of the difference between whiskey & whisky, and the impact wine has made on the whisky industry.
