Just over 10 years ago, Tony Asseily was a merchant banker, a partner of a respectable institution on the Right Bank of the Thames, doing what merchant bankers do: coping with financial crises, demanding clients and the unpredictable world economics…
Today, he is on the “Right Bank” of the River Garonne, coping with bug crises, demanding French bureaucracy and unpredictable weather patterns.
His daughter Yasmina, one of 67 Pall Mall’s longest standing members joined her parents in the business three years ago. We invite Members to hear Yasmina and Tony tell the tale of how this city dwelling family came to own a vineyard in Bordeaux, producing fine red and sweet wines.
The story of how they managed to turn the property around and restore it to its formerly exacting standards is truly fascinating. Château Biac has been supported by an exceptional team including two of Bordeaux ‘s finest consultants; Patrick Leon, the former technical director of the Mouton Rothschild portfolio and creator of Opus One for the vineyard’s red wines, and Christine Sourdes, consultant to Chateau Guiraud and Chateau de Myrat for the production of sweet wine.
