THE NAME’S BOND
BOND estates are physical wineries – yet more importantly, BOND is a philosophy of creating premium wines from a single varietal (Cabernet Sauvignon) from ‘grand cru’ site specific Napa Valley vineyards. This story begins when founder Bill Harlan owned Merryvale Winery in St. Helena, and Bob Levy was his winemaker. At the time, Merryvale worked with around 60 vineyards in the valley, yet Bob recognised several vineyards that stood out from the rest based on the quality of the terroir…
Today, five premium vineyards are under the BOND portfolio. These vineyards were hand selected and evaluated over several years before becoming part of their portfolio, however not all five were present out the outset. These are hillside vineyards with locations in both the Vaca and Mayacamas mountain ranges, where painstaking viticultural methods are used; 55 full-time vineyard workers hand-pick perfect clusters of fruit off Napa mountainside slopes of 30 degrees.
We are privileged to welcome Scott Gould, BOND Director to the Club to guide Members through a seated Masterclass of these superb Napa expressions, to include the soon to be released 2014 vintage as well as historical library wines.
