NOT ALL TREASURE IS SILVER AND GOLD
Whilst the precursors to rum date back to antiquity, the first distillation of rum is believed to have taken place on the sugarcane plantations of the Caribbean, when plantation workers first discovered that molasses, a by-product of the sugar refining process, could be fermented into alcohol. Tradition suggests that rum first originated on the island of Barbados, however Brazil might have a claim, as production in the 1620s was recorded there.

Join us at the Club on 24th May, where our good friend and long-standing Member Chetan Ladwa will co-host a walk-around tasting of this popular and versatile drink among other leading names in the industry.
We are also very excited to welcome Anoop Singh, an independent craft chocolatier who has previously worked with Jean Apostolou, Godiva’s head chocolatier. Anoop focuses on producing outstanding single origin grand cru truffles; a collection will be tasted alongside the rums we are to enjoy on the evening.
