Hailed as one of the best and most atypical Burgundian estates back in its heyday in the 70s and 80s, Edouard Delaunay had to be sold after falling on hard times in the 1990s. But Edouard Delaunay’s Great Grandson, Laurent, who’d spend years perfecting his wine making skills creating high quality wines in the Languedoc – some of them latterly in the Burgundian style – had always had a longing to return to his birthplace and make his own Burgundian wines.
In 2017 he was able to follow his dreams, when a chance conversation with Edouard Delaunay’s then owners resulted in an opportunity for Laurent to buy back his Great Grandfather’s estate. After an extensive refurbishment to return the estate to its former glory, Laurent set about creating his winemaking vision, which was a range of classic and rare Burgundian appellations made with purity and precision. The wines have gone on to gain extensive success from both the top Burgundian wine critics and international wine competitions.
Join Laurent Delaunay as he shares his winemaking history and a selection of his new Edouard Delaunay wines.
