Saint-Émilion with Head Sommelier

Terry has been wanting to get this date in the diary for a while now, and having found a window of opportunity on 24th September it gives me great pleasure to invite you to a Masterclass tasting on one of Terry’s favourite wine-making areas – the beautiful Saint-Émilion.

The first traces of human activity in the vicinity of Saint-Émilion go back at least to the Upper Palaeolithic period (35,000 to 10,000 B.C.), due to the naturally formed caves, forests and water courses that were undoubtedly very welcoming for the first peoples of the era…

Located about 45 minutes outside of Bordeaux, the area’s roster of producers is extensive, the terroir is complex and the entire region is converting to biodynamic and organic practices. Located on the right bank of the river Garonne, the appellation specialises in red wines from the grape varieties Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

The wines of St-Émilion are beautifully complex and elegant. Frequently used tasting notes include flavours of plums, strawberries and cherries which can become deliciously stewed with age.

Do join us on 24th September as Terry guides Members through the medieval streets of Saint-Émilion through his hand-picked selection of fine expressions.

We will taste:
