Crafted, inspired wines – a trip through the Rhône Valley

A feature of our August summer events calendar was a trip through the Rhône.

Wine has been produced in the Rhône Valley for over 500 years, with some of its steeply-terraced vineyards amongst the oldest in France. Forming a corridor between the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, the Rhône Valley extends over six French départements. The region draws its strength from this rich and powerful river, which shapes its landscape and moulds its character.

Our Sommelier, Zsofia guided Members through the bends of the valley and introduced her guests to lesser-known producers as well as the well-known, historic winemakers. The chosen wines prompted fantastic discussion on the growth of the region, and how, on occasion, you can get a fair bit of bang for your buck.
