Deep Dive Bordeaux: A vintage Comparison of 1988, 1989 & 1990
Hosted by Jane Anson & Tracey Dobbin MW
It was good to be Bordelais in the 1980s.
Something shifted with the brilliance of the 1982 vintage; a quickening of interest from international consumers, confidence from château owners to leave grapes longer on the vines and increasingly to drop fruit and cut yields. Volumes were risked in search of ripeness, concentration, and quality.
The vintages 1988, 1989 and 1990 are often held up as one of the great trilogies of 20th century Bordeaux. In this episode of Deep Dive Bordeaux, Jane Anson discusses if they are delivering on the hype with MW and fellow Bordeaux resident Tracey Dobbin.
