Premier Cru Burgundy with Domaine Fourrier – Wednesday 21st October
Founded in the 1930s, Domaine Fourrier is today one of the most distinguished names of the Côte de Nuits, defined by wines of finesse, precision and energy which offer an authentic, transparent expression of their terroir.
Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, the domaine owns just shy of ten hectares, mainly in its home village, with additional holdings in Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis and Vougeot. Of particular renown are its exceptional collection of old vines, notably in such acclaimed sites as Griotte-Chambertin and Clos Saint-Jacques. The latter is surely one of Burgundy’s greatest premiers crus (and commanding grand-cru prices).
We are delighted to welcome Jean-Marie Fourrier to the Club for a closer look at some of these wines. Jean-Marie took over the family domaine in 1994, having worked alongside the renowned Henri Jayer in Vosne-Romanée, along with a period at Domaine Drouhin in Oregon.
Jean-Marie follows a respectful approach in the vineyard and a restrained philosophy in the cellar. The result is wines of purity, focus and elegance, with a discreet use of new oak.
He will be joined at the event – and he is now in the winery – by his son Louis. We hope to see you there.
