Discovering Rheingau
Monday 5th – Thursday 8th October 2026
Following the continued demand for immersive, vineyard-led experiences, we are delighted to introduce an intimate autumn journey to Germany’s Rheingau – a region revered for its world-class Riesling and increasingly acclaimed for its distinctive Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir).
Set along a stretch of the Rhine where the river bends westward before continuing north, the Rheingau benefits from exceptional south-facing vineyard exposure, producing wines of remarkable clarity, precision and longevity. Over four days, Members will explore both historic estates and contemporary pioneers and taste everything from crystalline trocken expressions to age-worthy sweeter renderings.
Across the itinerary, Members will be welcomed into some of the Rheingau’s most respected estates, including Balthasar Ress, Peter Jakob Kühn, August Kessler, Schloss Johannisberg, Robert Weil, Schloss Vollrads, Eva Fricke and Weingut Künstler. Alongside private guided tastings, Members will enjoy a curated culinary programme, spanning relaxed vineyard lunches to refined evening dining, each paired with wines that reflect both place and producer.
ACCOMMODATION

Members will stay at the stylish four-star Wald.Weit Rheingau Hotel & Retreat – a contemporary retreat set within forest surroundings, with views across the Rhine Valley. Blending understated Scandinavian design with comfort and tranquillity, the hotel offers a refined base for the journey, complete with a spa, rooftop bar and optional wellness experiences.
ITINERARY
Day 1 – Monday 5th October 2026

– The journey begins in Frankfurt, where Members are greeted by a 67 host and our guide Rebecca Mitchell, and transferred into the Rheingau.
– Our first tasting is at Balthasar Ress, a fifth-generation estate whose philosophy centres on precision, site expression and long-standing stewardship of prime vineyard holdings. Over a light lunch, Members are introduced to the house style, from the historic ‘Von Unserm’ cuvée to a selection of single-vineyard wines that capture the nuance of the Rheingau’s terroirs.
– The afternoon continues at Peter Jakob Kühn, one of the region’s leading biodynamic producers. Here, the focus shifts to wines shaped by slate and quartzite soils, offering a more textural and mineral-driven interpretation of Riesling.
– Following check-in at Wald.Weit Rheingau Hotel & Retreat, the evening opens with a guided tasting led by host Rebecca Mitchell – an overview of the region’s stylistic spectrum – before dinner paired with a considered selection of Rheingau wines.
Day 2 – Tuesday 6th October 2026

– The second day begins at Weingut August Kessler, where Members will taste a range of lighter Rieslings as well as some of Germany’s most compelling expressions of Spätburgunder, vinified with a Burgundian sensibility.
– We will then visit Weingut Krone Assmannshausen, where the spotlight remains on Pinot Noir – here offering a more lifted, red-fruited profile, shaped by the cooler microclimate of Assmannshausen – before we sit down for a local lunch.
– The afternoon offers a change of pace in Rüdesheim am Rhein, with time to explore its historic streets and wine bars at leisure.
– In the evening, we will visit Schloss Johannisberg – a historic, benchmark estate and the birthplace of Spätlese. Members will taste through the full arc of Riesling styles, from dry expressions through to late-harvest wines, before taking dinner overlooking the Rhine Valley.
Day 3 – Wednesday 7th October 2026

– The morning begins at Kloster Eberbach, where centuries of monastic winemaking tradition provide the context for a tasting drawn from one of the region’s most significant vineyard holdings.
– Members then continue to Weingut Robert Weil, widely regarded as one of Germany’s great Riesling estates. Together we will taste a range of styles from trocken through to noble sweet expressions, followed by a light lunch.
– The afternoon offers time in Eltville, a picturesque riverside town known for its wine heritage.
– Returning to the hotel, there is time to unwind before the evening’s visit to Schloss Vollrads, one of the region’s oldest estates known for its commitment to organic viticulture and remarkable clonal diversity of Riesling.
– Dinner will follow at the estate, where we will enjoy regional cuisine thoughtfully paired with a selection of its wines.
Day 4 – Thursday 8th October 2026

– The final day begins at the highly acclaimed Weingut Eva Fricke, where we will explore a modern, site-focused and biodynamic approach, expressed through wines of precision, salinity and mineral tension.
– We then continue to Weingut Künstler, where together we will enjoy a final tasting showcasing Rieslings that reflect both vineyard specificity and house philosophy, followed by a closing lunch at the estate.
– We make a brief stop in Mainz – famous for its Cathedral with its blend of Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles – before returning to Frankfurt Airport.
