Back in 2003, ‘tyro’ would have been an apposite description of CVNE’s Victor Urrutia when, at the age of just 29, he accepted a request from his father to become the family company’s CEO.
Nigh on two decades later, CVNE has been remoulded, tweaked and transformed into one of Spain’s titans, home to some of Rioja’s most famous wineries including Contino, Imperial and Viña Real.
In conversation with Spanish expert Sarah Jane Evans MW, Urrutia talks about CVNE’s journey since it was born in 1879, the landmarks which have shaped it and, most importantly, those vineyards and wine which have been central to it all.
