800 years of wine-growing history – Karthäuserhof

The Behler Family

Since 1811, Karthäuserhof has been passed down from generation to generation within a single family. The current owner, Albert Behler, represents the seventh generation of the family to uphold the stellar international reputation of the Karthäuserhof, which it has held for the past 200 years. Vineyards here however were originally planted about a thousand years ago by the Romans and eventually it was Carthusian monks that established the Karthäuserhof estate in the 14th century.
