Les Celliers de Vétroz Masterclass – Thursday 15th February
We are delighted to announce another event designed to give Members a chance to discover the ever-more acclaimed wines of Switzerland.
Les Celliers de Vétroz is a boutique property situated in the village of Vétroz in the Valais, the Alpine heartland that produces a third of all Swiss wine. The five-hectare estate, split into 76 different plots, boasts vines dating back to 1960, planted to 13 different varieties up to 700m above sea level on mineral-rich soils.
We are thrilled to welcome the estate’s winemaker Anouck Dann Mittaz to the Club to lead a tasting of its wines. The line-up will include the winery’s Fandant grand cru, made from the native Chasselas; the Sonata cuvée, which blends Syrah with the local variety Cornalin; and the Concerto Bordeaux blend, including an older vintage.
Anouck was born in Valais, into a viticultural and winemaking family, and worked at the family’s vineyards from a young age. After studying sommellerie, she moved to England where she spent 10 years working in the wine & spirits industry, having graduated from the specialist wine school Plumpton College. Today she oversees the winemaking at Les Celliers de Vétroz alongside members of the owning Fontannaz family. As well as being a keen skier and snowboarder, Anouck is also the producer of the winery’s award-winning Gin d’Ei.
We hope you will join us for what promises to be an enlightening and entertaining evening.
