Drop-in tasting of Marqués de Vargas – Thursday 25th July

Members of our London Sommelier team were recently in Spain to visit the venerable Marqués de Vargas, a producer making acclaimed wines across three of the country’s most notable denominations. So impressed were our somms by the wines that we are bringing them to Verbier via a pair of special events in July, hosted by the winery.

Marqués de Vargas traces its history back to 1840, when Don Felipe de la Mata, the eighth marqués, planted the first vineyards at Hacienda Pradolagar in Rioja Alta. In recent years, the estate has extended its reach to properties in its near-neighbour Ribera del Duero, and Rias Baixas, where it makes racy Albariño in the southern part of Galicia near the Portuguese border.

On the afternoon of Thursday 25th July, Members and non-members alike are welcomed to the Club for an informal, drop-in tasting of wines from across these three regions, with the brand’s General Manager Jordi Viñals and Export Manager Diana Fernández on hand to talk through the range.

We look forward to welcoming wine-lovers to the Club for an exploration of Spanish wine.
