When Roberto Duran took the leap from his position as Assistant Head Sommelier of our London team in 2021 to head up a fantastic new assembly of sommeliers in our Singapore Club, we were sorry to see him go, but excited for what lay ahead…
Now, after countless bottles opened and masterclasses hosted in our Singapore outpost, we are delighted to welcome Roberto back to the St. James’s Room for one night only, where he will lead a masterclass on one of his favourite subjects – sherry.
Join Roberto as he reveals some of his favourite sherries ranging from the lighter Manzanilla and Fino styles through to deep, rich Amontillado and Oloroso renderings which have undergone extended oxidation in barrel to reveal ever more complex aromas, texture and tastes.
During the tasting, Roberto will be treating Members to a taste of Ximénez-Spínola PX Solera 1918, one of the oldest wines in the Ximénez-Spínola solera system, from which fewer than 10,000 bottles are extracted each year.
We are certain that both sherry devotees and those new to what is arguably the wine world’s best value wine will delight in an evening spent tasting some exceptional wines under Roberto’s expert guidance.
We hope to see you there.
