Riesling Masterclass – 7th July

As a grape variety that can be made into a plethora of styles, from bone dry sparkling, to lusciously sweet and unctuous, Riesling can be tricky to understand. Perhaps showing a discernible sense of place more than any other white grape variety, Riesling fights for its spot as one of the greatest. From lean, fresh, crisp citrus, to spicy ginger, peach; and then onwards to honeysuckle, marmalade and dried apricots.

Elliot Awin, third generation wine importer, together with his father runs Awin Barratt Siegel Wine Agencies (ABS), will taste us through a few of his favourite examples from the ABS portfolio, which comprises of over 200 Riesling references! A grape variety that has certainly become one of their specialities; cementing them as the go-to.

The wines we will be tasting:

2020 Dr Loosen Red Slate Dry Riesling, Mosel, Germany
2019 Sons of Eden Freya Riesling, Eden Valley, Australia
Allram Gaisberg Riesling Erste Lage, Kamptal, Austria
2019 Julien Schaal Rosacker Calcaire Riesling Grand Cru
